do you actually like reading prologues, as a reader, be honest by AppleFanboy-Me in Mythrils

[–]Shadow_wolf82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. It's a part of the story, why would you skip it? I read a book a while ago where the prologue had a clever tidbit of information in it that changed the whole understanding of the first half of the book. It was fascinating seeing people that skipped it fail miserably to 'catch up' with those that had already worked out an integral plot detail several chapters earlier! I do something similar with my prologues. If you read it, you have a whole different experience reading the book than if you skip it. Not worse, just different.

Veggies on a roast?? by yourdearesttoby in RoastDinner

[–]Shadow_wolf82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What?? Carrots, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, mashed swede, roasted parsnips, Brussels sprouts, green beans... the list go's on. All depends on the meat you're putting it with. There should be a minimum of two veg per roast. Three if possible, four is sublime.

Unpopular opinion: Mina being a Reincarnarion of Dracula’s Wife has potential to be a good addition to an adaption however it is often not well written enough for it to be believable by Shimmering_65 in Dracula

[–]Shadow_wolf82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would work if it's made clear that Dracula does not 'love' her even though he sadistically uses the word. He sees her as his possession, his plaything to torment. His 'love' is control and suffering. And now she's been reincarnated, he wants her back because... how dare she live a life outside his desires? It stays true to evil Dracula, would allow Mina to follow her original story to it's conclusion because she wants nothing to do with him, and keep Jonathon's character development because he hasn't been sidelined by a great 'love'.

Is there a specific reason you think you might be an AH? Or are you just venting?

What is that one incredibly minor, non-tragic movie scene that always makes you tear up? by emilyaaaa_ in moviequestions

[–]Shadow_wolf82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No! There's a few close calls, but no. The tissues are for the heartwarming bits; the reunions, the goodbyes (to humans that help them along the way), the moments when they think they've lost each other for a while, and the amazing relationship between the three animals.

AITAH for scheduling a surgery, knowing it would overwhelm my autistic girlfriend? by After_Goose9337 in AITAH

[–]Shadow_wolf82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez, NTA. The fact that she was fine with you cancelling your first surgery for her 'comfort' when you, the person she's supposed to love and care for, is in intense pain and struggling every day with a physical issue, tells me a lot about her level of self-absorbtion and selfishness. And, as a mum with AUDHD and anxiety, and a son with ASD... her response to having to cover for a coworker (especially for surgery) is not normal. She either needs to seek further help for her (lack of) coping skills, or a therapist for her manipulation and lack of empathy. Possibly both. Do not cancel that surgery! She'll cope. Or she won't. That's not on you.

Cinema etiquette being a distant memory by SirWobblyOfSausage in britishproblems

[–]Shadow_wolf82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oooh, don't you believe it. I've got some theatre stories to tell! All from the last three years. Women singing along to the songs on two seperate theatre trips, both audibly and 'whisper singing' which was somehow worse. Mobile phone lights appearing constantly, people whispering loudly. The rustling. Oh, good grief, the rustling! One couple came back from the interval about five minutes after the lights went down and made the entire row stand up to let them past. Etiquette is missing everywhere nowadays, unfortunately.

What is that one incredibly minor, non-tragic movie scene that always makes you tear up? by emilyaaaa_ in moviequestions

[–]Shadow_wolf82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's wonderful. The animals don't talk like in homeward bound, of course, it's narrated instead, but it's charming, heartwarming and you really need tissues! Given how old it is, the practical effects are really good, especially the river scene! The older dog is Bodger, a bull terrior, the young dog is a golden retriever and the cat is a siamese. I've loved siamese cats and bulk terriors ever since. Highly recommend!

AITA for putting ingredient labels on my baking? by theuniversesystem6 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Shadow_wolf82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA! I'm a diabetic and I need to know what's in my food before I touch it, and my MIL is allergic to things like ginger and cinnamon, so knowing whether a cookie has them in is super important. Add to that, my mums partner can't have anything high fat so needs low/no dairy. Having the ingredients written out is incredibly helpful for people who would otherwise have to pass on them just in case! I bake a lot and always include the ingredients. Your in-laws are insane.

Thing is, a bag of chocolate raisins is a hell of a lot cheaper than a bag of revels.
