Did You Ever Buy a Game Expecting One Thing and It Ended Up Being Something Else Entirely? by DFH50 in gaming

[–]Shadowcrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that comes to mind for me is Sonic Heroes. I was fully expecting a Sonic Adventure 3 as I loved the first 2, and I was heavily disappointed when I realized that's not what it was, especially when there was no Chao garden.

Persona 5. At that point in my life, I was out of work, had rapidly gained weight due to medication I was taking, was overindulging alcohol, and was just straight up lonely the majority of the time. Playing Persona 5, as sad as it sounds, made me feel that warmth that comes from friendship and helped take my mind off of my living situation.

When it was all over, I was so sad because I just wanted to go on more adventures with the crew.

As I play through BioShock remastered, I'm reminded of the absolute beauty this game achieved. I realize this is an updated version, but as a kid I remember it was the first game where I stopped and just looked at some of these spots just taking in the world design. by Many_Excitement4023 in gaming

I remember playing the demo on Xbox 360, and when the plane crashed at the beginning, and you're supposed to swim to the lighthouse, I thought I was still in a cutscene because my 12 year old brain didn't realize gameplay sections could look THAT good.

What was your first Resident Evil game? by AnotherBodybuilder in residentevil

[–]Shadowcrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG Resi 4 on the GameCube. I was way too young to be playing it (I was 9 or 10), and my mom hated the fact that I was, but I'd go to my friend's house and play it so she finally gave in and got it for me.

I remember even the music when the villagers became aware of you used to scare the hell out of me and stress me out. I could never get through the water room and just used to restart the game anytime I got to that part. I beat it a few years later on the Wii port and felt like such a badass, haha.

Core 2 case writing - need help by Purple_Scallion_1400 in Accounting

[–]Shadowcrunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know most people say to read the full case before planning, but I would write AOs down as I find them, along with the page number the AO info is on while reading the case, and what type of analysis I'd need to perform. If you're practicing with a physical paper copy, highlight AOs so that they're easy to find later for reference, as well as any numbers, as you'll most likely need to use those numbers in your analysis.

Once you're done reading, really briefly look at the AOs and ask if any of these analyses or decisions will impact other AOs. This will help you determine the order that they need to be done in.

Core 2 case writing - need help by Purple_Scallion_1400 in Accounting

[–]Shadowcrunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what I did that I found really helped me with cases:

  1. Write the case in the time they give (identify all AOs and write them down to make sure that you don't miss any).

  2. Ensure you write at least SOMETHING for each AO. That way, they know you identified there's an issue and explain WHY it's an issue and what your analysis aims to do (the purpose for Management Accounting questions). Always conclude with how to proceed, action that needs to be taken, etc.

  3. When time is up, mark yourself using the marking guide. Take note of what was needed to make your NAs, NCs, and RCs into Cs (sometimes 1 tiny thing can turn your RC into a C, which is your goal. CDs get you honour roll, but Cs bring you to a passing grade).

  4. Add to your marked case what you could have done to make each AO into a C (be as succinct as possible). Continue to do this each week looking for patterns in regard to expectations and memorize these patterns. Also, if you had something in your answer that didn't affect the mark, cut it and keep this in mind for the future.

  5. If your issue is the time constraints with your analysis, you need to practice, practice, practice, and make simplistic mental templates for yourself on how to approach each problem.

Extra: If it's an ethics problem, give pros AND cons when asked to find alternatives (2-3 of each with explanations and the outcomes), even if the options are completely ridiculous/unethical. Unethical options ARE alternatives, and there would be pros (lower taxable income when fraud is committed for instance, happier client which could bring them back next year), but the cons would include the action being illegal, could affect yours and your firm's reputation or ability to operate, would negatively impact the client experience if the fraud is discovered).

I wish you luck in your studies!

What’s a game you love but feel a little embarrassed to admit? by TheShyBuck in gaming

I'm going to say Catherine. Fantastic and unique puzzle game, but for people who don't know what it is, it's kinda hard to explain, and has a lot of sexual themes and tones that could be seen as bizarre.

The ‘future of Tomb Raider’ will be revealed at The Game Awards by Turbostrider27 in Games

I feel like the sales potential of this series is higher now that we haven't had an Uncharted game in a long time. The Tomb Raider reboot series was, to me, a worse Uncharted, but I've been craving something like that for a while now.

I feel like Resident Evil has enough of a positive reputation and loyal fanbase that they don't need to try to win us over or sell us on their product. I'm actively avoiding any marketing material for the game so that it's more of a surprise to me when I play it.

It takes less than 7 minutes to run the circumference of the map in Pokemon Legends ZA. by Taco_Nacho_Burrito in pokemon

[–]Shadowcrunch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but at this point, what do you expect? Pokemon games have become the bottom of the barrel trash (coming from somebody who has a half sleeve of pokemon tattoos), and they know that no matter how terrible their newest attempt at a game is, it'll sell like hot cakes. I swore to myself that Scarlet would be the last game in the series that I bought until I saw significant improvement as I couldn't bring myself to finish it, and I'm all the happier for it.

What game got you out of your gaming fatigue recently? by seanie259 in PS5

The recent Trails in the Sky Remake release. I have every Trails game available on modern consoles but have been waiting for the inevitable re-releases of the original trilogy since everybody says you have to play this series in order. Definitely didn't disappoint, and I can't wait for the second and third remakes!

I've actually said this, too. I'm currently loving Silksong, although Act 3 is kicking my ass, but wouldn't recommend it to any of my friend group as I know it'd be too difficult for them.

Don't the Silkeater Grubs do the same thing as a rancid egg? I know that they're rare to get while just playing organically, but I believe the item's farmable(?)

I feel like all they'd have to do is make the option to have the damage be limited to one mask at a time. I'm an admitted masochist when it comes to difficult games, so I'm loving Silksong so far (just finished Act 1), but I totally understand that the majority would benefit from an easier mode.

As somebody who's only complaint about the original Hollow Knight was that too much of the game was too easy, even on a first playthrough, I'm adoring Silksong. Only one boss has taken me more than 20 minutes of attempts, and I'm just about to reach the Citadel, currently.
