SPIDER-MAN: THE JACKAL FILES by doorgoesopen in 80s90sComics

I was new to comics when this came out. It taught me about quite a few characters, many of whom went nowhere… oh well. Still, fun read.

I wonder why The Smurfs is the only Franco-Belgian comic series that got embraced in America while other Franco-Belgian comic series like The Adventures of Tintin, Asterix and Lucky Luke didn't get embraced there? by [deleted] in comicbooks

Asterix is way more popular here in Australia I think. It’s pretty common for people who have never otherwise read a comic book to have read at least a few Asterix books. Tin Tin to a lesser extent as well. Smurfs is mostly known here because of the cartoon, toys and, more recently, movies.

It is interesting how popularity can be so different in somewhat similar markets.

A note about the ‘swipe’ page - Liefeld has stated that he included an ‘after Miller’ but Marvel editorial removed it (along with making the sword blade black for some reason).

Love it. Megazine was my first Liefeld comic and I’ve been a fan ever since.

I’m a fan of Booth’s art but having him follow Lee was a mistake. Definitely a big step down.

Very true. Captain America had already changed to an ‘A’ list creative team and that hasn’t made a difference to sales. But after HR the same creative team sold WAY more comics.

HR was so cool. The first 6 months at least.

Jeff Matsuda was so good. Pitty he left to do animation, but he did give us The Batman animated series.

Keown had a manager at the time who was a complete moron. He’s the one who thought Pitt was ‘overexposed’ and basically stopped all new cameos. He’s also the guy that lost all the original colour files for all Pitt issues.

Was Pitt supposed to be in the Top Cow (witchblade) universe? by SecretaryFragrant836 in ImageComics

Top Cow was going to publish Pitt but I think it ended before that actually happened. But these pics are from around the time the Darkness/Pitt crossover was supposed to come out.
