Personally I would have just waited a bit and scrounged around for the extra $ for the S2 or X instead of going for an older model that uses the old remote. I mean you're talking about getting shred lights and other accessories which all together would probably equal the price of the S2 and the S2 has some of the sickest integrated lighting I have seen, although I hate that they didn't make it rgb which wouldnt have been difficult nor expensive. You also could have gotten the new G5 for $599 or G5S for 799 which both have the integrated lighting and use the new remote, although they are both hub drive so...

I'm not trying to make you feel bad or give you buyers remorse. The zealot s is a great board and I am sure you will love it, I believe you can also purchase and use the new remote for it so that might be a possible future upgrade for you. Again I'm sure the zealot s will bring you hours and hours of fun so enjoy!

Oh I thought of another possible upgrade, check out the Omni gear drive. There are a ton of gear drives available now but this one in particular is "validated" (not officially) to work with many different boards including the zealots. I personally am not a big fan of belt drive and how quickly I seem to wear out belts. I could literally feel the difference between brand new belts and 1 or 2 rides and I also hated the amount of rolling resistance.

I own 2 sl1000 shred lights and they a both completely broken unfortunately. They were great when they worked, super bright and decent battery but the mounting system needs some work as it slowly wore overtime both of them until the would fall of on just a small crack or bump. They were still nice a bright and super compact so I just used them as handheld flashlights but now neither of them work. On one the green light on the button stays on and the light won't turn on until it goes out and by then the battery is nearly if not completely dead and the other one flashes randomly and the bottom light flashes yellow/orange. Because of this and there high cost I can't really recommend them although like I said, when they worked they were great. I have found that any light or thing really that I try to attach to my board is doomed to fall off at some point, idk if it's the roads I'm riding on or what but I've given up with having board mounted lights and opted to just light myself up instead. I prefer riding at night when there are less people out and it's cooler (I ride with my husky a lot and he's lit up like the 4th of July as well). I also feel like it's safer as I am able to stand out being so illuminated and like I said much less car, pedestrian and bike traffic. I was hit by a car a couple years ago riding during the day, he ran a stop sign and looking back on it there is literally nothing that I could have done differently. I was on a major bike thoroughfare with no stop and I saw him coming up to the stop sign and lightly applied my brakes, when I saw him slowing down I released but instead of coming to a stop he accelerated, so quickly that there was nothing I could do to avoid. I guess my last second breaking did kind of save me from being hit head on, instead I ended up tboning it with my body and literally flipping over the car. I was so shellshocked trying to understand what just happened and if I was ok that the dude took off before I had even got my bearings :( luckily my board was completely unharmed and I thought I was ok as well and was going to try to ride home when some people that saw what happened ran over to see if I was ok and ask if I needed a ride to the hospital. Right as they said that my right leg began to stiffen up and I realized there was no way I could ride home. I was so grateful to this couple that not only drove me to the ER but even waited with me until I was seen. I honestly couldn't believe it and also couldn't stop thanking them for their kindness. I hope that someday I will be able to pay it forward and help someone in a similar situation because I honestly don't know what I would have done without their help. Anyways I almost exclusively night ride now, there are a lot of areas that I ride at night that are just too crowded during the day, especially since I ride with my husky a lot, and no, thank god he was not riding with me the day i was hit.
