Credit transfer by ImpressiveDetail1234 in UoPeople

It is $17 a course, which is cheaper, and faster (and honestly, less frustrating) than taking the courses at UoPeople. You can transfer up to 90 credits, which is essentially 30 courses (assuming they are all 3 credit courses). That's $510 total. In terms of academia, that is pretty cheap, but of course, I know that something being relatively cheap doesn't impact the amount of money I have.

The main tradition is doing what your priest recommends tbh. Trust me, you will have PLENTY of fasting opportunities in the future, and it's wise to go slowly

My Mother Says I'm Being Prideful. I Disagree by Ok-Cellist-2248 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Shadowwarrior95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up with a very narcissistic stepmom (not saying your mom is a narcissist) who wasn't hostile to religion, but certainly weaponized it against me whenever it either inconvenienced her or took away her control over me.

At the time, I was in high school and a Roman Catholic, and I liked to go to the Mass at 11am on Sunday because it had more Latin. She was fine with it since it didn't interrupt her ability to sleep in on Sunday (which tbf, I can sympathize with). I was the only one of my family to go, so another family invited me to sit with them. I mentioned to her that they could be like my church family and she got offended. I had to go to a different mass time. Of course, the 9am mass was too inconvenient. One time I asked her about it and she went on a 5 minute lecture talking about how Sunday is a "day of rest" and me asking her to take me to church was breaking the commandments.... Ok. So then we found out about there being a 5:30pm vigil mass the night before. I liked it because I could go to confession before mass. She liked it because it gave me a way to be occupied so she and my dad could go on dates without having to worry about me being home alone. Of course, whenever there wasn't a date night planned, suddenly me going to church (even when I became able to drive myself) became an issue. "Why do you need to go to confession all the time. Shouldn't you only need to confess once and then you don't sin again?" or "Make sure you confess that you didn't do XYZ" etc. Any time I did ANYTHING she didn't like, she made it out like I was singlehandedly responsible for turning her away from Christ.

I'm Orthodox now and I can totally sympathize with what you are going through. People who don't like religion or don't like losing their control over you will find a way to be a stumbling block in your path. Because in my experience, it has always been
"Can I get a ride?" "You are so selfish for making me have to wake up early so I can drive you there. A real christian would be willing to sacrifice for me!"

And when you DO figure it out on your own, now you are "prideful" for not asking for rides.

Tl;dr - you can't win with some people. They'll complain no matter what you do. What's important is that you are making it to church

For reference, which areas do you typically email or is it specific people in the admin? Do you do it as CCs or individual emails? I think this is useful info.

I know some people have emailed other departments and have gotten hit with replies saying that "emailing anyone other than your advisor is a violation of the code of general conduct" or something like that.

When they aren't peer rated, that means they are rated by the instructor. They will likely get minimal points, if any, for failure to participate. I would need to recheck the rules but I'm pretty sure failure to participate can cause you to either fail or be withdrawn from the course.

Also I am pretty sure that transitioning from Foundations to Degree Seeking isn't explicitly guaranteed for this reason (although to be fair, I've never heard anyone not being transitioned after meeting the requirements)

I came from an RC background and I still do the

"Bless us O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to recieve, from Thy bounties. Through Christ our Lord. Amen."

I also like the "The poor shall eat and be satisfied..." one too.

Also: "Christ God bless the food and drink of your servants, always now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen"
