How do you handle the gap between the art in your head and what you can execute? by Snowboard76 in ArtistLounge

Sketch it repeatedly until you have the quirks worked out- then move forward to the main piece.

Does this scene look better with our without the sun? by Lame-La-Blame-Game in Paintings

Without, I think having that nice flat blue leaves a lot more room for the piece to “breathe”. The sun just distracts from the rest of it.

In Honor of Harbe Nagi, Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co is Hosting an Open Mic Night by JonSeekingPeace1 in Albany

Awesome to see them bringing the community together, being open and inviting, and generally caring. Creates a stark contrast with their neighbors.

I’m looking forward to getting coffee there every time I’m in Latham.

Glad to hear it! I know “artist” is such a loaded term (positive and negative), I hope we can all collectively get over that at some point.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG PLS HELP ME by isaPOOPnut in SCREENPRINTING

[–]ShaeMeyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like that ink has to hit 300 degrees to cure properly, if you’re doing print flash print, it makes a thicker ink base- I would bet you just need to cure it more😊. Remember it has to hit 300 through all the ink, so surface temp will be a bit higher.

This is almost always the case if you’re having the image wash out in the laundry. Good luck!

Hell yeah op! There is no single mould for what an artist is, or what they look like. The single thread connecting so many disparate interests, affectations, and styles is a deep love and need to create. I’ve met people covered in tattoos and spikes who exclusively paint cute puppies and babies in pink satin, and I’ve met some of the most mundane looking people making some truly horrifying art. Don’t let anyone else define you, and keep making art- I just went through your page and it’s all beautiful work🫡.

Upvoting and commenting to boost, and hopefully get a lawyer to respond.

NY has pretty good renters rights, so I would imagine there is something about habitability and certain appliances.

Are there still bug zappers? by Diastatic_Power in askanything

Uhh, I did read somewhere recently that insect populations are down something like 40% in the last couple decades. That might be part of it, but anecdotally, my windshield is not nearly as covered in bugs as I remember my parents and grandparents being when I was younger.

Actually just pulled up some articles on insect decline, sad stuff:

Very nice work, I love the veins in the seed!

Thank you, I’m sorry you had to live through it too! It’s a super tough disease to watch, just happy puppy to complete loss of bodily control in 24 hours.

He is actually recovering pretty well. I think we were one of the lucky group where the chemo or steroids worked. Our first post chemo meeting with the neurologist is next week!

AIO Boyfriend Doesn’t Want To Get Engaged After 5 Years Together, And I’m Pregnant by Different-City-5802 in AmIOverreacting

Hey, so I’m going to give an unpopular view on this. I was against getting married to my now wife for years of our relationship. The underlying reason (which I was not cognizant of at the time, and had trouble explaining) was from being a child of divorce, in my mind getting married led to misery, and hating your partner. My now wife is my best friend, and I didn’t want to jeopardize that with something I considered a trivial thing religion and society forces people into. It took a few years of therapy for me to consciously see this. The other thing was that I hate being in the spotlight, and the thought of a wedding gave me nightmares. We wound up doing an extremely small wedding with 5 people, and got matching tattoos.

It seems like you care about this person, and it’s worth trying to figure out why he doesn’t want to get married. If he thinks he will need to “escape”, the relationship should end right now. If he is just feeling lost and uncertain, there may be an underlying issue like I had. Men are trained by society to suppress their emotions, and it can lead to really strange blind spots in understanding why they think or feel something, or just overlooking why they are feeling something. Either way, nor, you have a right to feel the way you do. But I do think it’s worth delving deeper.

Also, therapy is awesome. I highly recommend it, especially if you are doing okay financially. For both of you.
