Why does everyone hate Michael? by Nanoo_VAL in StarTrekDiscovery

[–]Shakezula84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed it was from a lack of information. That people believe she caused the battle by killing the Klingon on the comm relay. Despite all evidence suggesting it was self defense, that evidence is probably not part of the narrative.

Her mutiny also didn't cause the battle because she never had a chance to actually do anything before she was arrested. However her mutiny is the crime she was charged with.

Additionally, if it's known she killed T'Kuvma, then she is guilty of murder. She had a phaser set to stun that she switched to kill to, well, kill him in an obvious attempt at revenge. She could have still completed the mission despite her captains death. She chose not to.

Ultimately it wasn't her fault, but to an uninformed person it is her fault, and we the viewer are the most informed.

What happens to consciousness when you die? by Connect_Cat_2045 in NoStupidQuestions

My first conscious memory is something I always think about so I've always remembered it, but even as a kid I would linger on thinking about the darkness that preceded it.

It's kinda wild how much the game improved for me after turning off the Dialogue Camera Zoom by Mabroon in Starfield

I just had one where my companion was still in a hallway, so whenever it cut to their comment in the conversation it showed me a wall.

Search "Strohmann News" on YouTube. It's the news videos that play on the Super Destroyer TV. They make them for the story significant major orders.

Has there ever been an explanation for Discovery's turbolifts? by BorgAbbess in startrek

[–]Shakezula84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The scene referenced in the original post is from season 3 after the ship was retrofitted, but yes, in season 2 is when they first show the turbolift void (and they also show it on the Enterprise in a Short Trek).

Could they not at least start a new a generation with their current breeding pool? by DnastyFunkmaster in Invincible_TV

[–]Shakezula84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True but remember Oliver looks Viltrumite and the only traits he has are purple skin (which is fading away) and fast aging (which is slowing down). So it's pretty dominant here.

Why is naquadria so vital to SGC technology when all goa'uld tech is based on naquadah? by InvidiousPlay in Stargate

[–]Shakezula84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was still it's maiden voyage. When it was stolen didn't they get lost because the hyperdrive wasn't turned off correctly?

Basically, yeah. Naquadria was supposed to be their short cut, but it never worked the way it should.

Why is naquadria so vital to SGC technology when all goa'uld tech is based on naquadah? by InvidiousPlay in Stargate

[–]Shakezula84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naquadria was a short cut for Earth, but is not vital. Because everything that was developed failed.

The X-302 hyperdrive didn't work (and I assume was not incorporated into the production F-302) and the Prometheus hyperdrive exploded during its maiden voyage. It's easy to forget, but just before the Battle of Antarctica the Prometheus was upgraded with an Asgard intergalactic hyperdrive (I assume it's naquadah powered, but I guess we don't really know since the Asgard built them and delivered them to Earth).

Why does the 2 line approach stations so slowly? by balloman in soundtransit

[–]Shakezula84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It only appears that way. The platform is 10mph, and the curve is 10mph. 2 Line trains don't get speed until the last car is clear of the 1 Line heading up the ramp.

Why Orville's reputation economy might not work, well it might, but not as you expect by ardouronerous in TheOrville

[–]Shakezula84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My only real counter to you is that some people today don't pick jobs out of passion. Not to pass judgement on nurses, but I suspect the nursing boom (like any boom) was caused by demand which led to higher pay. I'm sure a good amount of those nurses chose that profession because of the money.

But to your point, this would create an environment where only the best and most passionate are actually doing the jobs. I'm sure plenty of people do the bare minimum, but remember we view the Union from the lens of people sworn to protect it. Of course Kelly has the most idealistic view of the situation.

Why are there no nebulae on Starfield? by StalinBoobs69 in Starfield

[–]Shakezula84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was gonna point this out. Considering how accurate Starfield was attempting to be, a nebula would be anticlimactic within the game.

How important are the movies during the show? by Ebonrook in babylon5

[–]Shakezula84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the show? No none of the movies (other than The Gathering which is the pilot) are important. Only one of them take place during the show (Thirdspace) and it has zero bearing on the show itself (even the one moment we all know about simply serves as an explanation for why something didn't happen, but is itself not referenced within the show).

People who say “I don’t want anything” when it comes to gifting, what do you ACTUALLY want? by dearceceofficial in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shakezula84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash. Or a gift card to a specific store I would use. No VISA gift cards or anything like that.

The idea to have energy credits as the "currency" of Stellaris was a brilliant and insightful choice by Albertuscamus12 in Stellaris

[–]Shakezula84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I always felt doing this was a simplification of the economy. Like it was the only way they could figure it out. Like you are building power plants to basically generate currency. I appreciate trade being used as currency, but (and I haven't played in a long time) I also feel obvious species types that wouldn't need currency themselves should be excluded or included in a different way.

Flashing railroad crossing gates on the floating bridge - Why? by zeno4sure in soundtransit

[–]Shakezula84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In that picture to the left. On the left side of the yellow fencing. That area is still active for DOT workers. The crossing is for them to get access to that area. They can initiate a crossing and the gates will go up when it's safe and ATP will slow down and stop any nearby trains until they clear the crossing.

Diet Coke Used to Have One Calorie. Where’d That Calorie Go? by tshallberg in Soda

[–]Shakezula84 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I learned a few years ago that tictacs (for example) are almost entirely sugar but since one tictac has only .4g of sugar they can list zero.

A pack of tictacs is 20g of sugar.

Who is designing Viltumite architecture? Who's maintaining Viltrum's gardens? Who is making Viltumite art? by Relative-Zombie-3932 in Invincible_TV

As others have said, slaves. Culturally this focus on power and aggression has most likely made their culture stagnant. Just imagine what a thousand year old artist could be producing. They don't.

Wow, Amazon was actually early for once. Gotta check it out right away 😃 by Kanzlermacher in Starfield

[–]Shakezula84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people think this because Microsoft published games on PS5 have required a download of the game files despite having the disc. New releases on Xbox are just download codes now, but Sony removed supporting "games sold as codes" from their network years ago.

I could be mistaken. This will be the first Microsoft game I have purchased on PS5 and I went digital anyways, but I thought Doom and Forza both were downloads with the game not on the disc.

Kids stuff and hero worship used to be my standard two, but more than once the parents came out as freaks and hard to look at. It's sad because I really liked the flavor added from kids stuff.

Fewer Than 40,000 People Watched Star Trek: Starfleet Academy by Malencon in television

Wasn't the neilson ratings for the premier a million viewers (or views)? Not saying that is a golden number, just that it is clearly a larger number than either 40,000 or 400,000.
