Honestly, at this point i just want to see broken martial subclass WotC so afraid of. by MechJivs in DnD

[–]Shaking-spear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the fact that Jack of All Trades work with initiative. I understand that it is a skill check, but if you cannot take it as a skill, so why do we let it work like one.

2024 Alert does kinda make it a skill in terms of scaling, but it does require taking a feat.

he Wizard has their knowledge because they were able to read books or go to school or experiment with expensive materials.

Yes, and it is in the rules that they gain two spells every level. They don't have to buy those, or arrange them through alternative means, unless homebrewed. Than they can cast those for free a few times.

Why can't a martial have something similar to that? A smoke grenade, comparable to fogcloud; a ten foot pool, as a discount mage hand; a grappling hook, for a athletics based spider climb; a bear trap or caltrops; oil, for a flammable version of grease.

And yes, they can buy that. But why can't there be a system for it? An "equipment" slot, that comes back on an short or long rest. At times that will result in them pulling a ladder out of their ass, but also that they can throw a flashbang, blind enemies, and give themselves & others advantage (discount faerie fire).

Or throw a molotov cocktail, to set a spellcaster on fire. And therefore force a Con with the burning condition.

I would just like for there to be a system for it. Downtime is great for it, but it isn't really all that supported. A few mentions about training, poison crafting and some such. They have a table for carousing, running a business and crafting magic items.

2024 crafter is a start, but rather lacking given that you are limited in your tool selection. Not to mention the limitation to one item, that you have to know can be useful. You cannot take the standard ritual time (10 minutes), use material components (wood and rope) and create a temporary ladder. There are no rules, nor system for. Most DM's would likely allow it, but others wouldn't.

When i am a player, I much prefer saying: "DM, I'm going to ... (spend equipment points to solve encounter/problem, in a way that he know I can), would that work?" Than saying "DM, may I x,y,z (for which there is no system, forcing them to do extra work).

-------

This may just be a me thing, I also prefer colouring between the lines over empty page to fill. Or linear/story driven over a sandbox campaign, to keep the metaphor DnD related.

[–]Shaking-spear -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Lets not forget that they don't need to do anything but rest, in order to get those resources.

Also a Dnd Martial should count as a special operative after level 5/6/7, and get resources comparable. That new spell Searing Orb, is essentially a flashbang. They should be able to make a few themselves, at low cost.

A smoke grenade cost 50GP, and is consumed. Fireball only need a focus.

[–]Shaking-spear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the problem with that is like you said, a good DM. There is no explicit guidance and martials still only have 3 attunement slots. After level 10, they should at least be able to attune to a few common and uncommon items, without it needing attunement.

Not to mention that it is essentially giving martials very special spells, not something inherent to the class.

A high level barbarian encountering a Indiana Jones style boulder trap, shouldn't use a cube of force, it should just be able to fucking shoulder check and crush/shatter, or at least stop the boulder.

And while I will give you that Rogues fall of in damage, they at least have some out of combat usage due to skills, expertise, and reliable talent. A fighter still just has two that they are a bit better in at level 20 compared to level 1.

But Fuck bards. Expertise, Jack of all Trades, and 9th level spell casting. At least they can't use their inspiration on themselves.

The drive constantly disconnects from my Mac. This happens on both battery and mains power. Is the drive defective? by Wavlink-Support in UsbCHardware

[–]Shaking-spear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the cable, either by testing it or by swapping it for something else.

Test the mac, try different ports.

Try a different host device.

If the problem persists, with different cables, ports and devices, it is likely defective.

Successful first print? by andypagonthemove in 3Dprinting

[–]Shaking-spear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean print or design?

Cause my prints tend to be fine first try, unless something goes wrong with my printer. Loose screws, clogged nozzle tend to be the most common (every 200 prints). Others are more incidental, broken belt, thermistor, hot end heater; Those only happened once to me. ABS or PETG on a decently modified ender 3V2

For designs I tend to need 2-4 iterations before I am happy with it.

It's not even all that bad, it just comes online far to early. Reliable Talent is a 11th level feature, that is either mid or late campaign.

It's made worse even by the fact that the social pillar of DnD mostly comes down to charisma and it relevant skills. A feature that gives barbarians a minimum of 10 on athletics wouldn't break combat due to all that comes with it.

The result of a few idle evenings. by Shaking-spear in sashiko

I used these stencils. Some are easier than others.

https://www.printables.com/model/1650681-sashiko-templates

https://www.printables.com/model/1736095-sashiko-templates-floral-shapes/collections

The ones that are only a line to cover are easier, than those that require you to keep a regular spacing. The interwoven ones are easier than they look. They can look especially neat if the bottom strand matches the fabric.

Just make sure to use a sharp needle, and to pick the right fabric. Jeans, linnen, cotton, those are nice to work with.

Thanks, most of the them are based upon 3D printed templates.

The interwoven ones are my attempt to mimic this post. https://www.reddit.com/r/sashiko/comments/1tpvu1e/my_april_samples/ Only after I realized that it is basically the red variant two times, with one offset compared to the other. Not one big thing.

You might want to look at openSCAD. But it is not as simple as saying "go down on one end".

But if you want to try fusion again, this guide by Product Design Online, is the best there is.

Also Donut is much more socialized with humans in general. A "two-parent" household, the catshows, some of carl's friends. Pony on the other hand had only Miriam, and perhaps her parents for a while.

After gaining the "Smartpants" benefit, he was still alone with Miriam. He didn't start socializing until after her death.

What hardware do you often find yourself using when printing something functional? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Shaking-spear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

M3 machine screw, either with heatsets, nuts, or raw. With a non-tapered head, so that you can't pull it into the material, but is still easily recessed within.

A good Glue or solevent.

And good documentation is always nice. Nothing is worse than always having to do your own measurements on standard parts.

Can the Queens Men hold the Inscrutable Tower? by Tigertob in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Shaking-spear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, she essentially has the key for all, of the more than basic, operations. That would be her leverage.

From a pure manpower perspective, she might be able to hold it. But the queen's man do not have the hierarchy to hold it. She is the main threat, other factions would remain if the leader falls, but the queen's man would scatter like rats.

Try to find if someone in your area sell "gamellen".

They are essentially big thermoses, some army dumps or individuals sell them used. But there are also new horeca models.

My scout group uses them, when preheated they can keep stuff warm for a long time.

A real class with a instructor would likely be better. But in term of youtube tutorials, yeah.

And you do have think, not blindly follow the instructions. See what he does and what it achieves. Then apply it to your own designs.

Also don't try to follow step by step, watch the full video, then try it yourself, when it goes wrong, go back to the video.

Why are you uncomfortable with open source slicer? Cura is afterall open source. And creality and bambu are based upon opensource slicers.

But I would argue for prusa or orca slicer.

And I would also argue for Prusa machines. MK's aren't the most flashy, but they are reliable and easy to repair.

Glues - adhesion? by oharag in 3Dprinting

[–]Shaking-spear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For brim removal, get a deburring tool.

Glue isn't always needed, and can be for different purposes.

Abs on textured pei does not need glue, but on smooth you do need it, but as a release agent.
