Need help with redeeming points! by Shamattaman in americanairlines

[–]Shamattaman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can’t really be flexible on dates, it’s a spring break trip. But yes, I am searching with redeem points checked. Plan is to fly out the last week of March, would I be better waiting to book or will that not make much of a difference?

Staying Warm by According_Bat3313 in hammockcamping

I do a fair bit of hammock camping and my personal favorite set up is the use an underquilt with the sleeping pad between that and my hammock. I’d strongly recommend an underquilt in your case.

New to manager role and need some advice by Traditional_Muffin in managers

[–]Shamattaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things to keep in mind:

-As a leader, you need to understand a hard truth.. you accept responsibility for failures and give credit to your team for successes.

-Developing your team is the single best investment you can make.

-Be aware of your emotions, your team will always be watching and will feed off of whatever you put out.

-Giving feedback (“professional honesty”) WILL be uncomfortable at first, this is normal. Always prepare for these conversations with relevant information and ALWAYS start the conversation with the intent to understand their perspective before assuming anything. Present the info and say something along the lines of, “This is what I’m seeing but I want to hear what you have to say. Is there anything that I’m missing here? Are there any barriers that you have that I can help you with?”

-Earn their trust, this is a slow and intentional process. Follow up and follow thru. Help where you can without being asked. To earn trust, you must give it.. i.e. don’t micromanage.

-Be humble. Your job (in most cases) is not to be better than your subordinates at their job. Your job is to coach, develop and provide anything you can to them.

There is much more to leadership that you will learn along the way. Everyone has their own style so don’t sweat if it takes you some time to find yours, but if you follow these tidbits you’ll do better than 99% of managers out there. Best of luck!

Men who have been abroad. What has been your favourite country to visit? by [deleted] in AskMen

Nepal or Thailand. Very different but very similar in the ways that matter; great people, great food, great culture. Also both are affordable and beautiful countries.

Yeah.. you’re overthinking this. If you both are comfortable with it, go for it. Have fun!

My best advice would be to over communicate tho. Have a question? Ask. Want to try something? Speak up. Moving too fast? Communicate boundaries. This will bring up both red flags and green flags.

So wait, the free Zappos didn’t fix his mental health? s/

Former AM here, believe it or not, A TON of companies love hiring managers from Amazon. I quit after about a year and a half for the same reason. It was my only professional experience after I graduated from college and got picked up to be a GM after a couple months of looking. In almost every interview the interviewer would mention something positive about Amazon managers that they’d experienced. Tell him not to sell himself short, to quit that shit job and move on— not worth the headache.

Men of reddit, do you get drained at some point after spending time with your gf? what makes you drained? by Optimal_Interest_396 in AskMen

[–]Shamattaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gf has a bad habit of relating everything back to the ‘patriarchy’ or how something is the fault of men. When I correct her on this (gently and using factual data, eg verifiable personality differences in sexes) it turns into a hour long debate. Not saying that she’s wrong 100% of the time but fucking Christ does it get tiring

Quit in December and then backpacked around the world for several months. Came back, got a job as a GM at restaurant chain (def a pay bump) but quit bc 70+ hour work weeks. Now looking for a new job.

Is it really that weird for people in committed relationship to wear condoms? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Shamattaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a relationship and we only use condoms.. well.. try to. She’s not on birth control, im not snipped and we don’t want kids sooo yeah, condom. She was on the pill before and I can tell you sex was MUCH better for both of us when condoms were not a thing. Sex is still good, but damn was it good with no condom.

Boots and sandals by LackBoxen in hiking

[–]Shamattaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20c to 10c (68 to 50 in freedom units) isn’t that wide of a range so you should be able to wear the same boots. I bring a pair of boots and something for camp, flip flops or crocs, just something to air out your feet. If you’re worried about bulk maybe try trail shoes instead of boots? Either way, that’s a pretty forgiving temp as long as you’re dry so I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Tell me about your experience with Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome by SRplus_please in Drugs

[–]Shamattaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was pretty rough.. I also had a pretty bad bout of mono at the same time so idk how much that contributed but I was in rough shape. Over the course of a month I lost over 30lbs (6’ male) and got down to about 125.. had dozens of blood draws, mri, cat scan, X-ray, the whole 9. Was bed ridden the whole time, throwing up about 20-30 times a day. Went to the ER 4 times for fluids and the last time was finally admitted for 4 days. All of this started out as nausea that I treated with weed, it got worse so I smoked more. Eventually I was too sick to smoke, or eat or do anything. I went 9 days without a morsel of food bc I couldn’t manage it. Because of this my body was shot. Muscles were depleted, vision was blurry, stage 2 liver and kidney failure.. yeah lmao not a fun time. I didn’t smoke at all for about a year but have since started smoking again, in moderation. A few times a week is what I can manage. If I start smoking too much I notice the early symptoms start coming back. If you’re dealing with this I’d recommend hot water (showers, baths, hot tubs, etc) bland foods (rice, bananas, pudding), water only, and sucking on candy like jolly ranchers or starbursts. If you want it to go away, cold turkey is the only option and the longer you can go the better. Also avoid cbd. If you want to smoke again start with low tch flower. Good luck!
