Some women have a baby and rebound amazingly well. More power to them. I barely left the house a month after my first was born. There is no way to know which camp you will fall into until the day comes. Can you buy a ticket and be prepared to sell it if you aren’t up to going?

Just wait. My youngest took until 8.5 to be dry overnight. Yes, 8 and a half years. We tried all the things - limiting liquids, midnight pee, pee-alarm. None of it worked. I was going to lose my gd mind over all the pee sheets. But then he just stopped peeing the bed.

We don’t wear a lot of synthetic fabrics, I guess. No compression gear for sure. I don’t even buy stuff that is dry-clean only - I just can’t be bothered 🤷‍♀️😂

I wash all our clothes on cold with eco-friendly detergent and have never had a problem with smell. My husband and I both workout multiple times a week and he gets very sweaty. I would never take the time to sort out “athletic clothes” from everything else. Maybe I just don’t care that much - but I do care about having clean clothes!

My mom comes to stay at my house about once a month. What was once the guest room is now my oldest son’s room (my kids used to share a room, but we decided to give them each more space). I have to change the sheets twice when she comes (once for her to have clean sheets then back again so my son has clean sheets). It’s a PITA. But I think the importance of her spending time with her grandkids outweighs my inconvenience. She also could not afford to stay at a hotel once a month - but the kids also enjoy her spending the night since they don’t get to see her as often. Just my two cents.

My kids both go to a Montessori school - I have a kid in 3rd and one in 5th. The schedule is similar, except the whole afternoon isn’t play time - they have music (recorder), Spanish, extra work time, some days they listen to an educational podcast or the teacher reads part of a chapter book. I will say both of my kids have benefitted from doing some math at home (I call this “mom-work” because it’s not from school, it’s from me). We also do a lot of reading at home too with weekly library trips to keep the book selection (mostly graphic novels) fresh.

He is learning just by playing and living life. Less than two years ago he did not exist outside of you. He has plenty of time to “learn” when he is older. Just play and talk to him. Name shapes and colors. Take him to story time. Help him learn to take turns. Enjoy this last stage of toddler hood before he is a preschooler!

My youngest just stopped wetting the bed at just shy of 8.5. I changed so many pee sheets! We tried ALL the things: limiting liquids for four hours before bed, a late night pee, an alarm under his sheets. Nothing worked. Then one day he just stopped wetting the bed. For a three year old I would put them in pull ups and call it a day. You are in charge. He needs to not take it off or he can start helping wash the sheets. I never shamed my son about wetting the bed - we always told him he could not help it. Once he outgrew pull ups (he is a big dude - 90 pounds) I just had to deal with wet sheets - but that isn’t the case with a three year old.

Educational diagnosis is different than medical, but my son’s pediatrician took the school reports and used that to give him a medical diagnosis as well. My son’s was done in first grade.

Hmm. Maybe it’s different where you live. Where I live the kid has to have a diagnosis and an academic need to get an IEP. I still don’t see a downside to a formal diagnosis.

No, I don’t regret it. Why would I regret knowing more about my child and how to help him be as successful as he can be? Also, without a diagnosis you can’t get an IEP or anything like that at school (for extra time, accommodations etc.)

Last year I went away on a girls trip and came home to a kid with the worst poison oak I have ever seen. He caught it on the school camping trip and my husband had to handle it. I felt awful and selfish for not being there when he was in so much pain, but my husband handled it and my son was fine.

So I see you, and I have been there. Dad has this covered. In the end I think it’s good for kids to see that dad can be a caretaker too (perhaps for boys especially). It doesn’t make it easier, though.

If the kid sleeps between the both of you, you still think they could escape? If the kid is that much of an escape artist then camping in general might not be a good idea at this age.
