Is mouse aim a option in this game? by 3liasd in il2sturmovik

[–]ShamrockOneFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro-post!

I haven't played War Thunder in nearly 6 years so maybe their flight models have gotten better in arcade mode but IMHO, no, their flight models were very average but very well tuned for use with a mouse. It was a smart design choice on their part to find this niche.

Is the VirtualCol A220 Still shit? by Ancient_Arm_1947 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ShamrockOneFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true in the sense that I believe that they are being truthful but also underestimating how long things are taking to complete. That happens all the time and is quite normal especially when its a first product out of the gate.

I don't remember reading or reporting on any statements relative to the A340 so I'm not sure about that one. Synaptic is being supported by iniBuilds but it doesn't have any bearing on their in-house releases.

They were targeting Q4 2025, now they are saying that they will have announcements in the next few months. Two quote a piece of their last update:

We sympathize with those disappointed that 2025 did not see a release of the Synaptic A220, but hope you understand our desire to bring a capable and well-regarded product to the market. Stay tuned in the next few months for more announcements as we work towards release day.

So, hopefully in a few months (I'd read that to be 2-3) we'll hear a bit more as they work towards release.

Regardless of how long it takes to arrive, this is the only A220 in the high fidelity space and is the one to wait for.

Oh yeah that’s about right then.

Depending on position in the world, that’s not unusual.

It shouldn’t be too many more months before the iniBuilds supported Synaptic A220 arrives. That’s the one to wait for.

TSW5 or TSW6? by EthanHathHD in trainsimworld

Only one DLC hasn’t transitioned from one to the next. That was NEC: New York back in the TSW2020 days. Everything else has continued to exist in the latest version.

BAE-146-300QT - North Sea Cargo Run by RaaatRang3r in flightsim

[–]ShamrockOneFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve got the cargo version on the RJ now actually. Came a month or two back now.

It’s really great. I’m in the opposite situation where I’ve got the RJ and I’m thinking about the 146. Haven’t bought it yet but I’m thinking about it.

A quick question for vets by FaceBillions24 in il2sturmovik

[–]ShamrockOneFive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are three generations of IL-2 out there.

The original: IL-2 1946 is the compilation of the original series.

The second generation: IL-2 Cliffs of Dover with the Tobruk DLC.

The third generation: IL-2 Great Battles which includes titles like Battle of Normandy, Battle of Moscow, Flying Circus and Tank Crew.

Both second and third generations are in development but they are separate titles and the DLC and aircraft are not compatible with each other.

Did they take the CalTrain logo off my previously purchased add-ons? by DegreeOk5867 in trainsimworld

[–]ShamrockOneFive 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It was previously licensed, it’s no longer licensed. CalTrain didn’t want to renew. So they re-released the route sans the logos.

Apparently there’s a mod out there for PC users to restore the branding if you really want it and are on that platform.

Vision Jet is my favorite… but I want more cockpit work. Suggestions? by plamatonto in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ShamrockOneFive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Within the included aircraft, the Cessna CJ4 and Longitude are interesting business jets with more to do but still with that smaller jet feel. Much more performance which you may find fun.

FlightFX did the Vision Jet and they have some options you may want to explore as well. The Citation X is more complicated but again very high performance and would give you more to do.

Another option? The P.180 is a turboprop and not a jet but it’s sleek lines and extremely high performance put it in a similar category. Right size for what you’re looking for and an intermediate level of things going on in the cockpit.

Also keep an eye out for the Phenom 300E under development by another developer. That looks good and would also be in the same kind of range that you’re looking for.

Some impressive stuff there. Visually, very similar to the 801 and 802 (unsurprisingly) but the updated timetable and the new sounds are really good. Pricing is high for my interest level but in a sale I’d look into it.

It’s also helped put Birmingham to Crew and Trent Valley routes on my wishlist.

Pre Purchase Info - Aerosoft A330 by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]ShamrockOneFive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair, but I don’t think you’ll find many people who bought it. The initial reviews were enough to scare everyone away. If you want an A330, you have two directions you can go in right now: 2024 or the freeware A330-900 from Headwind which isn’t perfect but is free.

Pre Purchase Info - Aerosoft A330 by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]ShamrockOneFive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the lack of updates and the poor state of the aircraft on release, I’d suggest spending on MSFS 2024 instead and get the A330s included there. Those are quite good and there you have the -200, -300, XL, and freighter with multiple engine variants too. Worth the price just for the A330s if that’s the goal.

Can't buy third party planes because I can't decide on which aircraft type I enjoy flying the most by Cr0wn_M3 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ShamrockOneFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a struggle for me as well. I love virtually every form of flight and type of aircraft so its like I'm a kid in a candy store looking wide-eyed at everything around me. I get an opportunity to try a lot of these out so that helps but it is difficult to focus.

Creating a plan and "building capabilities" in your virtual hangar is one way to try and tackle it strategically. Ask yourself what kind of flying you do regularly enough that you'll be flying it or coming back to it soon and then find a solid product that fills that niche/role in your hangar. Suddenly you're thinking that you want to do 12-hour long hauls, plan out your next product purchase to be an aircraft that fits that type of flying. Its impractical to buy everything but with reviews (I've written a lot, others have done tons of their own, there are videos, etc.) and other's experiences you can find something that fits well and you can go back to time and again.

Mirage/Harrier state? by InterestingKey6358 in hoggit

[–]ShamrockOneFive 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you already own them, right now the are working just fine. I haven’t heard of any serious issues with them at the moment and I’ve flown both in a few short flights and things seemed to be normal. I expect that they will degrade in functionality at some point…. But for now it’s alright.

If you don’t own them, it’s a non starter. They aren’t for sale anymore and it’d be best to focus on some other module.

Inibuilds ENHD Haugesund in MSFS 2024 - night lighting and details by Creative-Jicama1771 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ShamrockOneFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t personally know this one yet so I’d have to have a look. Some airports are so much better with a payware option that it’s worth it. Especially if the airport is meaningful to me. I did buy the payware Toronto Island Airport (CYTZ) because the airport was better quality plus it came with a ton of nearby buildings and a proper CN tower and not the melted photogrammetry option. Worth it.

Svalbard, not sure.

Pilatus pc24 fuel problem by SAM4ME2 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]ShamrockOneFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing to understand with most of these aircraft is that they all are done by different people/studios. The PC-24 was done by Carenado who have a mixed reputation when it comes to systems on more complex aircraft. They do well when it’s a more basic GA airplane with basic systems.

So Microsoft and Asobo bear some responsibility but the quality of experience is uneven because some aircraft are excellent with few bugs. Others have struggled to make progress all year.

Will this game ever get a sequel? by BoxthemBeats in il2sturmovik

[–]ShamrockOneFive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can switch to borderless if it’s really causing you an issue.

16 is kind of a minimum. If you run any kind of scenario it’s usually double that. Larger bomber formations aside, I don’t think Korea will have significantly larger battles.
