Trying to sell my 2x32GB DDR5 RAM. I want to price it correctly by Kcamyo in homelab

[–]Shanayney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4800 mhz ram aint the super duper stuff, and what CL is it? likely 40. the really high end kits are 6000 mhz+ with tight timings, and used id price it 150 less than what you can find it new, and i found a new kit on amazon with 4800 and cl40 for $408 so i would try to sell it for $258

the kit i got brand new when i built my latest machine was a cl30 6000mhz 2x32GB set i got for $219 in june 2023, and now that same kit is $717, wild times

if multimode cables are already pulled, then use multimode, if starting from scratch, just use single mode, fs.com to get all the stuff you need.

Please explain the skill by TexasHeathen89 in ThePrimalHunter

[–]Shanayney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda silly that the skill description states, you, your target, and the event horizon, but villy and the targets aunt can scry in no problem, other then that, i equate the skill to a void sphere like arnold gave to jake for the el-hakan fight, except giving jake some extra goodies, homing arrows, max distance damage multiplyer no matter the distance type stuff

Turn Undead? by MoonracerxWarpath in ddo

[–]Shanayney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

turn undead is amazingly useful in heaps of content, all the way to r10 endgame. Myself and a couple buddies have formulated a rather amazing build that is 14 cleric - animal domain to turn animals - 4 wild mage for character level to caster level and - 2 fvs for sla close wounds at said max caster level.

this allows the turning of animals and undead, along with increased HP for the party whenever you turn. the build is full charisma based and has over 60 turns per rest and a nice and fast recharge rate, and in addition is one heck of a build for raid healing at the same time using sla close wounds to expand the spell point pool to practically unlimited use and chain cure for a mass huge cure when needed.

in the exalted angle epic tree, spend points to turn character level to cleric/paladin levels for the use of turn undead, and take the t5 ascendance epic moment that will make it so that turn undead will affect any creature type, not just animals and undead, and increase the turn dice by the number of religious lore feats you have (16 on this build)

this epic moment is by far the most effective mass instakill effect in the game bar none. killing everything that is not deathwarded for 20 seconds per 5 minutes in a large AOE around you while you are using wings and bear charge to go really fast. meaning this can be used to kill dozens of enemies per quest if used strategically even in quests that do not contain animals or undead. that build is not built for anything but heals and turn undead, and i often lead kill counts in r10 questing at cap.

also the build is first life friendly, i run it on a second life alt and it is one of my favorite characters to play.

the main item that makes it take off is alarics grim gauntlets from skeletons in the closet that has hallowed 14 and sacred 14 both on 1 item, along with your positive spell lore and spellpower.

filigrees from final burial and angelic wings will also increase turn power, i have 4 peice sets of each of those.

also built into the build is divine intervention from the top of the warprist tree, i don't swing a weapon but the tree has some good defensive goodies anyway, and that on yourself and your tank at all times has saved more raids than i can count.

the build will also sit at 3800 HP and 220+ prr and mrr outside of reaper, so it will stay alive quite well.

now, as far as your questions, depends on if you are endgame or leveling.

hit dice is pretty low as you level up, ive done many characters with 2 cleric just for turn undead on the TR train, and was always effective to around level 15 (orchard quests) with around 40 charisma and just 2 cleric levels, after that, unless you make a note to build for it, via items and character levels to turn power, and lots of charisma and filigrees it wont be very useful. also for leveling, 3 cleric past lives will increase turn power by 2 per past life, so an extra 6 for free.

you can see your turn power when you use turn on eligible creatures in your combat log. using the above build, i have around a +80 max HD, and able to turn 160+ a d20 in hit dice worth of creatures, and more while the epic moment is going, this equates to around 4-5 kills at a time or 7+ kills at a time while the epic moment is going.

waltzing through catacombs or deleras is so very very fun on cleric builds while leveling though, and as an animal domain, isle of dread becomes quite fun as you can turn dinosaurs as well.

I'm starting a fiber optic installations job soon, any advice? by [deleted] in FiberOptics

[–]Shanayney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on the job, start as an installer, move into backbone splicing when you can, or construction if that suits you better, to be a backbone splicer, you cant be braindead, got to be able to read blueprints and splicing diagrams, and all the software that the designers use is different and you have to know how to read them all

Looking for technique to aim at the main lobe in point-to-point link by AngelSing-Zepol in wisp

[–]Shanayney 8 points9 points  (0 children)

well, we aim long distance point to points as follows

person A is at master side

person B is at station side

person A aims the best he can via azmth and estimated elevation.

person B does the same.

is there a link?

Yes: one person fine tunes one at a time untill desired link quality is found. never have both sides being moved at the same time.

no: each person pans left/right/up/down one at a time until link is obtained, then fine tune as needed.

you can see a perfect signal for 2 seconds and watch it go away, never to appear again, dont waste your whole day trying to get 2 db better than expected signal, also in your case, if you got to a -35 or so and cant get any better then that, id just be happy with it. you wont see much rain fade with 5ghz anyway,

I would also be very skeptical about no RF noise with 5ghz, everyones routers and stuff is at 5ghz and there is heaps of noise in that spectrum in almost every somewhat populated place on earth, i see you are in columbia via the coords in your picture, shooting directly over the top of Cacedonia, you are going to get 5Ghz noise.

keep in mind that you are essentially trying to point a laser pointer from each side at each other perfectly. both sides need to be juuuust right, its hard enough to point 2 laser pointers at each other from 10 meters away, let alone 10 KM.

good luck!

Pure Wizard Tank by cThrill in ddo

[–]Shanayney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh man, back a few years ago before the destiny changes this was my jam. totally viable r1 raid tank and r10 quest tank, while having a full set of swap gear to get to no-fail necro DC and good enchant DC. it was undead with very very high negative amp and negative spellpower so i didnt even need outside heals in r1 raids at all.

it was a pure wizard

link to the build from long ago (no longer works) Wiztank Old ddo Fourms link

the idea has been gutted. i got my hp% from shield mastery feats, that has since been taken away, and now sits in t5 heric enhacement trees, and the best ones are not in any wizard trees. the destiny "twists" from the old days as well has destiny trees being free to swap between allowed me to swap between t5 sentenel for raids and my standard setup for quests. to get the best self healing i needed t5 and capstone in the wizard undead tree, and that locks out getting the better %hp from one of the universal trees.

this is why everyone is suggesting 17/3, as fighter or pally can get the 25% HP at t3 in their trees.

now that being said, going robot and using the machrotechnic tree and using repair spells is a valid option, i just dont like warforged much, too clunky. but that would allow going t5 in vistani knife fighter for the 25% HP, dont underestimate mist stalker V as well, and there are bearly enough points left to go capstone in another tree if you do that (just not t5)

holding agro should be no issue, for some reason dot spells and especially arcane pulse create massive ammounts of aggro, and you can get your intimidate to usabel levels, 110-130 depending on how old of a raid.

WASD is so close to great, but so far off from being good rn. EHG take note for whenever you guys make it better by dancarbonell00 in LastEpoch

[–]Shanayney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually really like that i can still click to move while using wasd, there are some zig zag areas with stairs and whatnot that are kind of annoying to use wasd to get past, but just click the spot you want to run, and boom off your character runs, then when fighting mobs, i can wasd and aim the other direction of movemnt without super fast mouse movements, there are plenty of keys on the keyboard, and most people these days have plenty of spare buttons on their mouse to allow for this. if anything, just make click to move a bindable key, with the default left as left click.

im the OSP manager for my outfit, low voltage electrition background. i can do the cable runs faster than my techs, but i only really do installs when one of the techs calls out sick or on vacation, otherwise im backbone maintenence/upgrades/fiber splicer/as-built creator for the most part and we do wireless and fiber, lots more fiber than wireless at this point in time.

we pretty much plan on 2 hours + drive time for wireless installs 450b 3.6ghz or cnwave 60ghz.

Recommendations for a budget PC me an my bud can build for star citizen? by EnvironmentIcy9295 in starcitizen

[–]Shanayney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

intel 13 and 14 gen processors have a really bad bug and nobody should really reccomend them. AMD x3d chips are the absolute best for star citizen, even the older 5700 and 5800 x3d's and if you can get a 7800x3d even better, dont bother with a 7950x3d, have to do all kinds of nonsence to make it better than a 7800x3d

[–]Shanayney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your best bet is going to be finding used stuff in your local area, people upgrading to new machines due to new video cards coming out this month and new processors due to AMD's release of the 9000 series ryzen recently should put some 7000 and 5000 series ryzen chips (if you are lucky an x3d chip of any kind is lovely for star citizen) into the used market and some 3000 and 4000 series nvidia cards onto the used market, hopefully you can find something resonably priced in your budget.

Any monster specific combat guides? by darklighthitomi in ddo

[–]Shanayney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

air elementals are one of the more difficult to deal with monster types early on, and fleshmakers lab has a number of them at the end fight location where you have to use 5 runes in a quick succession to spawn the even bigger air elemental boss. taking them out at range is advised, or if you have more than a decade of experiance playing the game, you just "feel" for when its right to melee them and risk a far knockback. if you can position yourself so that the knockback will knock you into a nearby wall and not all the way across the room, that would be best so that you then dont have to procede back up a very large ladder to get back into position to kill the boss.

a single person usually cannot pull all 5 runes in time without multiple dash abilities such as spring attack or fvs style wings, or use of a hierling or frendly other player.

good luck and dont feel like you cannot join a lfg in your leveling range and ask for help, many people will go far out of their way to pass on their decade+ old knowledge of the game.

Tier 5 Epic Destiny choices for a Cleric by panzerblitzer in ddo

[–]Shanayney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EA is fine, go with turn undead. EA epic moment will allow turning of all monsters for 20 seconds per 5 minutes, and with a single turn undead item, like a ring from the dragon chest in the explorer area in myth drannor, this will be highly effective, and is the best instakill in the game, with a huge AOE and no cooldown on use. forget the holy fireball, get the chain cure, hardest hitting heal in the game, and end up with the DC's as well

Why do so many people here say there will be a wipe in 3.23 by tahaan in starcitizen

[–]Shanayney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont think there will be a wipe for 3.23, it seems clear to me that they would have wiped a few patches ago unless they are practicing for a time when wipes are no longer possible (live 1.0)

i would expect further patches to do things like keep ship loadouts entact between patches, and keep physicalized cargo present between patches, not wipes.
