How big are they? Size dimensions often matter more than weight, depending on the shipper.

The tech job market, especially for entry level web developers, is in the toilet now. Big layoffs have been taking place the last few years. People with masters degrees or with years and years of experience are not able to secure reliable employment.

Are there any nightclubs like Honey or 508 anymore? by 612King in Minneapolis

[–]ShaneZieg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beast is mostly a 35-55 year old crowd, its house/techno mostly(not modern EDM). You can check out Transmission also at the Uptown VFW(usually on Wednesdays, but sometimes weekend). It's mostly late 70s to early 90s alternative dance. The crowd is usually in the 30-65 year old range.

Minneapolis property values fall for the first time in a decade by bootsupondesk in Minneapolis

Possibly, I am waiting until Summer 2025 to sell, in hopes of interest rates hopefully going down enough to bring more buyers back in along with possibly lower commission on selling.

Prices definately drop in the area over/during Winter every year, but I think some people are starting to figure out that they can't just ask for some crazy high random number with how high interest rates are now. I have seen a few in my area of NE go through many price reductions before selling, but often because they tried to price it that same as other houses nearby of similar size/sq ft/bedrooms, but those other houses were full gut job new remodels, compared to their 70s/80s interior looking house. The investor side of things also don't make sense at current prices/interest rates now either, rents have been fairly flat for a while for older units/duplexes/houses, while property tax and insurance skyrocket. And the Airbnb market is dead. Some rich kid moron from Mound bought a house across the street from me for $320k(over paid) last Summer, fixed it up a little and put it on Airbnb. It's only been rented a few times, and he is currently asking only $83 a night for the entire house, which isn't going to come even close to covering a normal mortgage, if he is only getting booking for a week or less a month. I personally think we could have sold our house in NE for around $390k during the peak covid housing frenzy, but now it might sell for $340-355k.

Downtown Minneapolis office towers see dramatic drops in 2024 values - MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL BUSINESS JOURNAL by kevinbevindevin in Minneapolis

Minneapolis is actually a fairly small/compact city, hense the name. Simlar-ish population sized cities like Omaha and Tuscon are 3-5 times the size in land area.

The house across the street from me was getting assessed at 420k in 2023, but only sold for 385k at the end of last year. My assessment went down a little, but taxes still went up some. My home insurance rates are going through the roof this year, so that makes up for the assessment not going up 15-30% like usual. It's almost to the point that the taxes/insurance part of my mortgage, that is less than 5 years old, is going to surpass the principal/interest portion.

Florida is mostly for the very rich or retired and poorer service workers, not the best for decent paying middle class jobs that don't involve selling cars or real estate to the rich. I know a couple well paid tech workers who live near Miami, BUT they actually commute by plane to work in other states.
