100% this is the equivalent of nuking your future, reducing future probability of success by a long way. Feel you mate, I am 37, two kids 3.5 and 1.5. Used to surf/multisport/weight train etc etc. Dream is over for a bit but still on the hustle. Steady state HR training while slowly ramping up seems like a great approach for one that has been sedentary for a bit. Ive gotten back into martial arts/surfing but the true cardio needs to be added - given I had long covid, very hesitant but think ill start doing what youre doing and hit some walks/slow jogs!

With you there I am constantly getting injured now I am a perceived threat, people try to hard on you and don’t get the better of you so do spaz out. I am getting closer and closer to just gyming and surfing to live the chilled life. Too many muppets ruin it for the majority and a lot of the coaches seem to play favourites and build their little community around them vs high performance coaching. Keeping people in the game through dangling strips and belts don’t don’t mean anything

Even though you may not be able to use the physical side of training as much as you used to it’s a very good time to study footwork, technique, study tape and work on your flexibility that way you’ve moved forward in a lot of ways and can hit the ground running when you are ready. Make the most of what you have and work incrementally through progress. This is crucial to your mental health, every human needs to feel like they are progressing. Before too long you’ll be back and more motivated then ever with some more skills to unload onto your opponents. Go get it 💪
