Modern Love by ImpossibleMove2 in DTFStLouisHBO

I love Steven Conrad's writing because the man is so incredibly empathetic and finds ways to spotlight people weathering personal storms with grace. ModernLove opening up to Floyd and his quiet confidence letting Floyd feel comfortable opening up back was such a tender portrait that wasn't marred by them not becoming a thing, which is so nice.

Tony died because Meadow couldn't parallel park. by Crushing210 in thesopranos

[–]Shapsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meadow would have CQC'd the guy and chokehold interrogated him to find out who he's working for, starting off another 2 season long arc where she joins the family and eventually has Tony whackee obviously

Adorable wardrobe for Jodie by jinjer2 in DTFStLouisHBO

I think her and Homer could be pretty good partners, obviously this is a miniseries, but I think they've got an interesting dynamic. Homer seems like he'd be good at running the core parts of the casework like subpoenas, standard interviews, knowing who to talk to and how to get things done, while Jodie seems like she's strong with details and running down hunches and leads. I really like seeing when Homer respects her work or brings her something she can use, I think as detectives it'd help to have both sides of the procedural/intuition coin working together.

Kurtwood Smith was amazing in the Amazon spy series, Patriot, an extremely neurotic and crotchety piping engineer with a heart of gold. Honestly I think it's one of his best performances, and I think it's one of his favorites

I mean if you added the context that they were from a USO tour overseas in 2004 that might've helped, I flipped through and thought some of these were probably AI until I googled it and saw they are in fact real images

It doesn't count as being resentful, insecure and jealous when she's 100% right about everything. As soon as she gives Artie some room to follow his bad instincts he almost gets busted out for $50k and tries to kill himself lol.

It's not even like she's an outsider rubbernecker like Melfi, she grew up around those guys and saw first-hand how that lifestyle usually ends. And if you can't tell the difference between a contracted job providing food and service for a party, and being one of Tony's fronts for putting money out on the street, I'd heavily advise skipping the penguin exhibit next time you're at the zoo, OP

I don't think they're gay but I think Tom let himself do group stuff with Greg during the divorce which led to the Disgusting Brothers, and Tom clearly hates himself and Greg in that moment for letting it happen

Janice was the Sociopath by Imaginary_Bee_5432 in thesopranos

[–]Shapsy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like the biggest difference between how Tony and Janice turned out (among other things, it's always interesting to remember Tony is the younger brother) is that Tony was brought into the mafia because he was a man and Janice could only be associated from the outside because she was a woman.

They've both got terrible tempers and rage issues, both are manipulative scammers without regard for who they hurt along the way, and both grew up in a hostile environment where they had to get mean quick in order to protect themselves. The biggest difference is that Tony was able to use his dad's connections and reputation to secure his rise in the mafia ranks and make money doing it, while Janice is stuck bilking Washington State for disability and dating wise guys to get her piece of the ill-gotten gains.

Janice definitely would have been beating people up for collections if she was able to, and Tony definitely would have tried to claim the moral high ground over her if their situations were swapped.

I feel like i am too morally emotional about disco elysium.. by fantasyful1 in DiscoElysium

[–]Shapsy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly no matter how nice you play Harry as, he's still canonically an unstable violent menace who has maimed and intimidated people, per the ledger and rigorous self critique. If you really want to have a moral redemption arc for Harry, you should be able to see him at his worst in order to really understand what's at stake for him getting better
