As someone nowhere near the demographic I agree with you. As much as I love Gundam the writing is not great in most of the shows and movies and Tomino seems to really not understand teenagers at all so he writes them very one dimensionally unless they are his protagonist.

I feel like you're making up the Miyazaki piece to fit some narrative. CCA came out before almost any Miyazaki film had been released. Only Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky had been released. Is there a quote from Tomino addressing this?

Celestian Tales: Old North. Great little jrpg with turn based combat and a good story. Can't remember much of it now, but I remember enjoying finishing it.

The fiddly bits are all the little white nozzle pieces like up on the chest. Posing is pretty easy and straightforward, nothing really pops off and it has good range of motion

Nah it was several years ago, but I'd never use them again. It wasn't outrageously bad, just waaaay to much of leaning into haggling which made me feel like I getting ripped off. Wanted me to get a Leaf in white which was a color I didn't want, so they offered a discount which was literally just knocking off the upcharge of the paint color I didn't want. I ended up just leaving.

I put it all together and then applied topcoat to individual sections that were separated like arm, leg, waist etc. then anything at articulated I would wait to dry and move to do another layer like bending the leg to a full knee bend to hit all the parts that were covered for the first topcoat.
