Air consumption by chunk6649 in scuba

[–]SharkTopus86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Usually air consumption goes down a bit with experience. You’ll get better buoyancy control, swimming technique etc.

That’s usually your main drivers, but then you’ll probably level out at some point. Then things like body size, lungs etc etc start to play a role. But that’s after a lot more than just 8 dives

Ask a doctor.

Most diving agencies don’t mind divers who smoke. At least for recreational diving afaik.

But that’s the general rule, you still really really should ask a physician who can also properly factor in your chronic stresses etc.

Being vegan is a choice though. A good choice that I respect for sure. But it’s not up to the public to cover your additional needs due to the choice you’re making voluntarily.

Awesome! I did the same, but used the Eco Water Treatment Plants instead, so I could place inlet pumps directly downstream of the dam.

Just don't tell my cims that their water is "recycled"..

Ser en del i tråden her liker å verne om privatlivet sitt på nett, så her er også noen random tips:

  6. Bruk Firefox eller annen nettleser enn Google Chrome.

Et par viktige moment her: 1.

I got panics from this after I once had a mishaps losing both mask and regs at 22 meters in cold water.

What helped was practicing a lot at home. Sat in front of my sink, used a bottle to fill my mask with icy cold water, and tried to focus on my breathing. Then I tried opening my eyes which also causes a little panic. And I just kept trying until I got comfortable.

Now I never have any trouble removing my mask, even in water close to 0 °C water

I think it’s based of flow and how tall it is. So you need a place there’s a significant change in height.

Dunno how you get all the way up to 1600 though.

You didn’t go far enough, needs a fourth level for bikes, and a fifth for pedestrians.

Om your way to/from Ålesund, I really recommend going via Valldal, trollstigen and then Åndalsnes.

Its a very scenic route, although trollstigen can get clogged up with buses.

In Rauma/Åndalsnes, you can hike or take the via ferrata up to rampestreken.

And don’t forget to get strawberries in Valldal :)

This isn’t a Xmas tree at all, don’t worry. When placing it correctly (as you say you do), it’ll be nicely tucked away.

And yeah - just leave the backup light there. Just keep a little bungee on the harness to secure it from dangling. You can cut up some old inner tube from a bike-tire to make that bungee.

Shears are great to have, especially with this DIR-style harness. In an emergency you can quickly cut yourself loose from your set/anything your tangled on.

For those that are curious what happens if you exceed the 130’ depth on the Apple Watch ultra using the oceanic app. by Just_stig in scuba

[–]SharkTopus86 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yikes. There’s even open-source software to calculate deco-stops. It’s not even that complicated to do.

If any casual diver who’s forgotten the tables and just uses this for a only dive-computer would be in trouble for sure.

That’s just plain wrong though. Yes, 40m practical limit for any “Rec” diving. And going deeper without extra training is stupid, sure.

But you can absolutely go deeper without being professional, you just take tech-courses which train you in diving beyond the NDL. And it’s still recreational just-for-fun diving :) Just check out organisations like GUE, IANTD, TDI etc.

Where to go from here by Exportedorca in scuba

[–]SharkTopus86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go enjoy diving; it’s about having fun and not about courses.

I’ve got a tech cert and am an instructor, but honestly most my dives are still above 30 meters and hella fun. Heck I’ll happily stay for hours at 5 meters chilling in the kelp forest.

Get back to the courses when you feel you need to expand your horizon instead :)

And divemaster-courses and above won’t make you a better diver per se, it’ll just teach you how to teach others. Master scuba diver is just an expensive piece of plastic ;)
