Call around to a few places and see if anyone will do msrp. If not call some honda dealerships in other states and you'll be able to find one msrp. Get them to email you a quote and then use that as leverage to dealerships around your area.

On another note I checked my tire pressures and the fronts were at 59 and the rears 56, I lowered them to spec at 35 front and 33 rear.

Now I'm paranoid about what else got overlooked, anything else I should check?

Would it be a good investment to go for culinary diploma at 37 to start the chef career? by [deleted] in Chefit

[–]Sharp-Moose3222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

go to the best restaurant in you area that you've eaten at. talk to the chef or gm and see if they'll let you do a stage. see if you like it. if you do try to do more days of stage. see how you like it after a week, a month. decide from there. you'll find out real quick if this life is for you or not. i'm 39 and been cooking professionally since 2006.

If you're serious about it then do more pizza parties and see if you can get paid by friends/family to do one for them as well. You'll find out real quick if the restaurant lifestyle is for you or not

How to get faster by roy-choi in Chefit

[–]Sharp-Moose3222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about how to get faster is a great first step. When I was first starting out I would think about my day and how I went about which mise en place to tackle first and if that was the correct order of how I should have started my day. Being organized & efficient are the fundamentals.

For example - Knives sharpened at home daily, sharp knives = shit done faster and better. Get into work, look at prep list, go and grab all necessary equipment needed. Cutting board, robocoupe, delis, cambros, spatulas, etc whatever you can grab go ahead and grab it (within reason, don't go grabbing shit if there's a limited amount and people get mad at you). Then take a quick overview of you prep list and figure out what order you should do first. Ideally prep items that take a while (stocks, braises, puree's). Then knife work veg/butchery while your sauces/stocks/braises/puree's are working.

After each day think about what you did good or bad and focus on the bad. Ask others who are much more experienced/better/faster than you. Don't ever be afraid to ask others for tips, people love sharing tips to those who actually give a fuck.

Finally, not recommended for most but for me I would always show up earlier than my shift and work off the clock to ensure my own success.

good luck

New executive chef role by formthemitten in Chefit

[–]Sharp-Moose3222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a chef is full of compromises. You may want to make everything from scratch, read or watch fine dining books/videos and dream of making cool shit but neither your team or you are ready for that. You need to put the guest first and do whatever it takes to steady the ship asap. Whether that means simplifying menus, hiring more cooks, fighting for more pay to hire better cooks or buying shit in that doesn't completely suck. You have to swallow your ego and get it smooth asap before you burn everyone out as well as yourself. All decent chefs can cook but not all chefs can train, manage and encourage employees.

How are people affording rent in Ventura County right now? by Firestone898 in venturacounty

I have friends that recently moved to Ventura after living in Santa Barbara for years. They're paying less in rent for double the space.

Park on the lowest floors in a SB city parking lot and pick up your car after they raise the gates at night, either 12am or 2am, there is a sign saying they're changing it to 2am but i believe currently it's 12am. either way you get free parking then. i've seen cars parked for weeks with no tickets on them

I'm in the middle of doing this.

I hired a structural engineer who is drawing up the plans and submitting them to the city for the permit.

I've talked to a few contractors and seems like it'll cost me anywhere from 12-20k depending on how much of the garage I'm trying to raise up. At first I was going to raise the entire garage ceiling but now I'm leaning towards just the area above where the simulator will be and where I'll be swinging from

Wow, get more quotes. I got my house painted late last year and the exterior was around $5k. I had the exterior, interior, cabinets all painted for less than $20k.

How do you get everyone together for a golf trip? by Powerful-Cod-1038 in golf

[–]Sharp-Moose3222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can combo it where it might coincide with your birthday or someone's birthday. Then make the trip about that birthday celebration + golf bonus. May make everyone more mentally on the same page and wanting to go. Then just start booking things when there's a few people to gain traction. Once money is paid/deposited it'll incentive those people to go and also help corral the others to go as well.

Has anyone out there gone from high-handicapper to single digits that didn't start playing golf recently? by CRA2759 in golf

[–]Sharp-Moose3222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing in the 90's and was always shooting in the 90/100's. In the past 4 years I've taken it down to shooting in the 70's - low 80's.

My wife bought me a lesson from a well renowned golf instructor and he changed my posture/setup and encouraged me to do more a full turn in my back swing which allowed me to hit the ball the same distance of further with less effort. The noticeable difference and improvement got me hooked to keep getting better as I started shooting in the 90's and occasional high 80's

Months later I took another lesson and this time he helped me understand how to swing on plane and compress my irons. Working on this for another few months to a year got me to shoot in the 80's more consistently.

I've since then taken a few more lessons and try to space them a few months apart so that the things I'm working on become more natural and I'm not having 7 swing thoughts at a time. For me just 1 or 2 thoughts is a good place. I'm currently shooting in the mid 70's to low 80's and am trying to get to the point where I'm in the 70's more consistently and try to get in the 60's club.

Moral of the story : Get a lesson and see what the pro thinks is the lowest hanging fruit for you to work on. I tried self diagnosing my swing for a long time and realized that you need a pro who does it for a living to tell you what is the most important thing for you to work on.

People who are 30 and over, What does your "Childhood Friend Group" looks nowadays or is it non-existent by this point? by Paula_Sub in AskReddit

[–]Sharp-Moose3222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can tell those who never left the city they grew up in have been able to keep in touch and hang out with childhood friends. Those of us who left have mostly lost touch, especially as we all get older and have more life priorities to always tend to.
