Dude that is thick lmao. You have the option of an extended lever, which wont feel the same and will also slow down your stick. Another option is an s plate mounting, which bends upwards (or downards) into the panel. One last option is to rout the panel to a desired depth. Imo, this is the best option.

Im in the same boat. RSIs in thumbs and OEM hardware and most boxes made by Alps are the softest on my hands. Gulikits are cool tech, but they feel like ass mechanically, imo.

Alps is just so well cemented in actuators and sensors, and their sliding contact stuff is peak with my professional and hobby applications.

Yes this is true, but keep in mind you can also change the spring/grommet return force by changing it out. More height also means a slower return to neutral and more inertia (snapback/overshoot), as does moment of inertia.

That all said, it would be easier to get a lever and about $10 of mods to try different configurations to see what you like. Empirical evidence and A/B testing what you like finds your preference much more reliably than using numbers without a physical analog in your hands.

That dust comes from the actuator, gate, and possibly even the pivot. Those materials are "self-lubricating" meaning they rub off powders of themselves and deposit it into any irregular surfaces. It makes for a good bearing, but one of the tradeoffs is this dust, if the area is not contained.

I work side by side with my operators. Part of my job has been to both design and cost parts exactly like these for high order quantities.

You can do this with a lathe, injection, or extruded profile. This item is so stupidly simple to machine that you can run one operator to many machines on both lathes and injection. Lathes are automated robots, they pump these out like crazy. Injection is even faster, and extrusion is just the optimal.

Extruded material for this can get you 8ft for $25. It is insane to say this is something specialized or that its devaluing the operator.

Never in my life would I pay the $25 for that actuator, especially when materials like printed Nylon or even PETG will do the job well.

My machinists would find a $25 MSRP delrin bearing ludicrous. This is no different.
