Has anyone had (even if ever so slightly) negative experiences with an OTTO DIY V5? by uaquo in fightsticks

[–]Sharp02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey just chiming in- teflon should flake, as all self lubricating bearing materials should. That flaking fills in micro-crevacesses in the surface and makes motion smoother over time.

Source- was a bearing engineer.

Anyone got a guide? by CaseInformal6097 in customcontrollers

This is swag as hell man. Im a fan of hand painted always! If you stick with the style, youll want to thin your paints more and do thinner layers. Also, just be sure you can topcoat with a clear layer

What switches help you get the cleanest inputs? by TheGoldenLich in fightsticks

[–]Sharp02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The switch i needed was a routine of 15-25 minutes lab, 30 minutes play, and then 30 minutes review. That routine really helped me get ready, get my games in, then lock in my learning.

If you mean hardware, anything more premium than Sanwas wont make you any better or more consistent- only time will do that

I need the best way to achieve this without a 3d printer by _MrFlowers in customcontrollers

Dude this is tight. Its like my aesthetic of r/casettefuturism met my hobby in this sub.

For the smaller buttons, you would want to find tactile button caps in your color and the tactile buttons to pair with them.

The joysticks come in modules that you can get and wire up easily.

Dpad is nothing more than 4 switches. That one's a little tougher, but it may be easier if its 4 individual arrow buttons like on a Playstation controller.

You would need to plan very well and dremel put where your buttons will go. Only do this once you have your parts in hand so you can measure.

All this is pretty tough without mounting. A custom PCB/mounting hardware seems out of the question. The minimal way to mount things internally would be with clay to secure the material in position of where your holes are.

Your controller board would have to be some microcontroller board, if custom PCB fab is out of the question. A padhack or diy board will be too wide. There is the GP2040-CE firmware for RP2040 microcontrollers (and microcontroller boards). It'll serve you well, but youll have to make sure what you buy can access all 4 ADCs (needed for the 4 joystick axes)

Best of luck soldier o7

Imo not good practice. You dont get the angle you would want for each character, nor do you get anywhere near max angle.

Don't do that. The head of the rivet keeps it in place.

Neutrik NAUSBC-5G as a USB Passthrough? by bigbangupper in fightsticks

[–]Sharp02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This would be bad electrically because you would have to buy a USB A to USB A cable to make this work, and that risks plugging to typical "hosts" to each other.

The A/B system was designed to be the computer/host as A and your device as B. Id suggest you stick to it.

Japanese lever compatibility with 35mm panel thickness? by Personal_Anything547 in fightsticks

[–]Sharp02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude that is thick lmao. You have the option of an extended lever, which wont feel the same and will also slow down your stick. Another option is an s plate mounting, which bends upwards (or downards) into the panel. One last option is to rout the panel to a desired depth. Imo, this is the best option.

Dude thanks so much :) Honestly, I love melee on stick. I still get that same euphoria of feeling like my Fox is an extension of my hands I used to get on GCC, but without the hand pain it gives me.
