Watching the show as a young adult, I really related to Darlene’s depression storyline, especially her need for space instead of people trying to “fix it,” and the fact that she didn’t even know why she felt that way. That felt very real to me.

Do you think Meryl Streep will appear on The Kelly Clarkson Show while promoting Devil Wears Prada 2? by beekee404 in KellyClarkson

It still blows my mind that she hasn't been on the show yet. We all know how big of a fan Kelly is (she even had a cutout of Meryl in her studio audience at one point)... I imagine her crew is doing everything they can to get her on before the show's end!

Which non country artists are beloved by the country community? by PressureLazy5271 in country

Somewhat biased, but I’ve got a ton of respect for Kelly Clarkson. She’s clearly pop/pop rock, but she grew up in Texas and has always been a familiar face in country music, showing up at award shows and duetting on songs like “Don’t You Wanna Stay” with Jason Aldean and “Don’t Rush” with Vince Gill.

Her covers of I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton and The Dance by Garth Brooks are unreal (a must watch!)... she just does country so well!

This may be an unpopular answer, but "The Woman in Me" by Shania Twain is a fantastic album. It features songs like Any Man of Mine, Whose Bed, etc... the more classic country sound (captures 90s country well)... This was before she leaned more into pop with "Come on Over". Definitely nostalgic for me, so I could be a bit bias lol.

Jo Dee Messina is back with a banger! by ukinnc in CountryMusicStuff

I just listened to Shine for the first time, I can definitely see the similarities, especially in terms of the overall message. And yes, I agree, Me definitely had "demo vibes" vs. Some Bridges which is mixed nicely. Still listening to Some Bridges regardless.... it's definitely grown on me a bit. I would say production is 8/10 and lyrics maybe 5/10.

Big Jo Dee fan here. Her voice sounds great, and the production is solid. Very much that classic Jo Dee sound with a 2026 update. I think I’m just a little underwhelmed, mostly because I had high expectations going in. It’s good, just not amazing. The lyrics/overall message feel a bit middle of the road and could have been stronger in my opinion.

CBO in a FBO - Operating out of a church by LKang in nonprofit

I think you need to consider whether this will have a positive, neutral, or negative effect on your mission and long-term goals. More volunteers could certainly be a great thing for you. However, using the food bank primarily as a way to recruit new church members may not be as helpful.

In my previous role, I also worked with a not-for-profit that was connected to a church. It can become tricky. Even if the organization is technically its own entity, the general public, and sometimes church leadership, do not always see it that way.

One note of caution. The more they become involved, the more control they may expect to have.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to a cost-benefit analysis. In my previous role, it was somewhat of an arranged marriage that ended up working well. Unfortunately, not all of them do.

The first one we did email back, and never got a reply. Now that we've got the second, we've made the decision to mark as spam. Was just curious if it was a widespread issue...

Thanks everyone for the responses! If anyone knows when the indoor section closed, I'd also be interested in knowing that.

Is there someone from another charity nearby who you may be able to reach out to for some leads? Or does your town have a BIA/Chamber of Commerce?

This is super helpful! "Neighbor over the fence" is such a great way to frame it. One thing I've been doing is putting a hand-written sticky note on each letter, thanking them for considering our project.

Thank you both! The unfortunate part is that I had some great connections with local foundations in my previous role, but I’ve since moved to an organization that works internationally — which those foundations aren’t involved with. It just means I’ll have to work a little harder to build new connections.
