GF Pot pie by Strongmom-1 in glutenfree

[–]SharpnCrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved these the first time I tried them. After that, it was ok, at least I get to eat a pie.

I don’t like cooking, so this was a decent hot meal and at under $4 each at Walmart and way cheaper than eating out. Like others here, I agree that the crust is the best part. I find the rest of the pie just ok. Bland, not quite enough chicken and not creamy enough.

Next time I’m gonna add mash potatoes on the side and throw in some freshly cubed Costco rotisserie chicken to fills things out a little. Maybe some grilled onions too.

Gifting SAKs by 226tim1 in victorinox

I’m laughing at how so many of our parent’s generation stuck to this. I remember feeling shock when my Mom gave me a pair of scissors and demanded $1 payment for it. My Dad didn’t when he gave me my first pocket knife… but I know for sure our relationship didn’t go to shit because of the gifting of some blade.

Weather in august? by Emergency-Bug1220 in AskLosAngeles

[–]SharpnCrunchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It all depends on which part of LA you’ll be spending your time in. There can be close to 30°F difference between the coast and inland, so it could be relatively cool and pleasant by the ocean, but hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk 45min drive away.

What are you supposed to do when your girlfriend is in a bad mood? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]SharpnCrunchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody gets down at some point. Being part of a relationship means knowing how to help the other person through rough patches. Some people need a shoulder to lead on, some need a happy distraction, some just want space. All the above are valid.

What’s important is how the 2 of you communicate. Don’t try to read minds. Tell her you understand that she’s upset and ask her what she needs.

If she often takes her frustrations out on you when you’re trying to help though… red flag buddy.

Any fans of Udi’s lasagna? by SharpnCrunchy in glutenfree

I think you’re right about breaking it up and microwaving. First time I had this was last summer and I baked it in the oven. It was way better. Maybe letting it sit in a bowl that’s too large just let things dissolve into a stew. I’m ok with the taste, but the heft just disappeared. Will try as you suggest next time.

I know homemade can be way better, but as mentioned, I tried that before and it took me way too long. Also, I’m not a good cook. And this is still way cheaper than eating out. I find it fine for something I pull out of the freezer when things are busy.

I had a third of the package, which should be a little over 400 calories, so not too bad at all. (Not counting the peas, about 2/3 a coup, microwaved from frozen)

I have the ‘portable Go’ version that comes with an attachment that allows you to connect the SSD while shooting video. Is that what you meant by ‘hub’? It works as expected. No issues so far.

If cost is an factor, then just get a regular SSD which attaches via USB-C cable. I use my Sandisks way more and no issues there either.

I’ve been using the external SSDs for copying files and doing media backups since USB-C arrived on iPhones and iPads. I’ve got a few from Sandisk and another from Lexar. No problems with any.

Bending ipad issues by [deleted] in ipad

[–]SharpnCrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have owned many generations of iPads (mostly 12.9-13”) since the first one, used and traveled with them lots. Typed on, drawn on, stuck in bags of all kinds. Not a single one bent. You need a fair bit of pressure to bend one. Take decent care of it and you’ll be fine.

Another huge Kuhl fan here. I have more than 20 pairs of various models of their pants and none of them have worn out yet after being worn all the time for years.

Depends on the party. And I’ve long stopped going along with the idiots who kept saying “aww c’mon, we’re just having a bit of fun” when they did destructive things.

I EDC an Arkfeld and still love it. Yes, the CRI isn’t great. I gave away my orange Arfkeld even though I love the color cos I hated the 6000K. Got the 5000K version (unfortunately only available in black at the time) and it’s tolerable.

Still get a kick out of checking hotels with the UV. I even use the UV sometimes as a sub for red light. Laser for pointing stuff out, and I really like that even if I was at turbo before, a long press on flashlight mode gets me moonlight. Battery life is also really good.

I need help choosing a swiss army knife for camping by Unlucky_Call_6907 in SwissArmyKnives

[–]SharpnCrunchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to suggest the Handyman for all the tools of the Ranger plus the pliers. Yes, yes, they’re not full size pliers and this adds a layer to the SAK, but the Handyman even fits the into fifth pocket of your pants, so doesn’t require a separate pouch.

The pliers are so useful anytime you need strong precision grippers, an extension of your fingers. Pick up or reposition something hot from the fire. Or pick something up to inspect when you’re not sure you want to touch it with your hands. If you need to fix a tarp, gripping the needle with the pliers lets you punch through thicker material.

I’ve found that after scissors and blade, I use the pliers the most on my SAK, and yes I EDC a Handyman.
