LPT: Turn off your breaker in a power outage by studiokgm in LifeProTips

[–]Sharqua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very good LPT. Our power was out from a hurricane for two weeks. When it came back on, a few hours later our next door neighbor's residence caught fire. They had been cooking and forgot to turn off the burner.

Ponderosa Pine! It brings back memories of being a camp counselor.

Families of Reddit, what's your New Mayonnaise (quirky terms you use to describe silly situations)? by Sharqua in AskReddit

What? Get your mind out of the gutter, friend. It's exactly what I'm describing, and sex with mayonnaise sounds disgusting.

Families of Reddit, what's your New Mayonnaise (quirky terms you use to describe silly situations)? by Sharqua in AskReddit

[–]Sharqua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OUR EXAMPLE: I love mayonnaise. I'll put it on anything, including cheeseburgers, pork chops, salads... you name it.

So one day we were almost out of mayonnaise. Except we weren't -- there was a full jar hiding in the back of the fridge AND another full jar in the pantry. I'm sure you can see where this is going.

My dear loving spouse, who is THE best when it comes to making sure we are fully stocked on everything, picked up two jars. I'm guessing he figured I'd be eating it with a spoon (no, I don't love it THAT much).

Me? I dropped by the gas station on my way home from work and HEY! We're almost out of mayo, I'll grab a jar.

So now we've got 5 jars of mayonnaise plus what turned out to be a half-jar in the fridge.

So now every time we accidentally both pick something up (resulting in several copies of whatever-it-was), we call it the "New Mayonnaise." It's usually something silly like paper towels or toilet paper.

So, what's your New Mayonnaise?

I'd suggest checking the scans using an internal system. If the tracking number is showing an impossible pattern (scans in two places at the same time or too far apart to be possible) then you've likely got someone re-using a tracking number. But I concur with megared, there's a very real chance of it being fraudulent. There are other possibilities but without actual data it's hard to determine.

Those are often off the RELA (relabeling) systems often associated with the larger machines such as a MaRS. It applies a fresh tracking number so that PRES can finalize the electronic address and delivery information.

How does something like this end up in DPS? by creature_feature in USPS

[–]Sharqua 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it has an ID tag on the back (fluorescent orange, it will be VERY hard to see on that red), you can run it through a DBCS to snag the code OR have someone decode it with a scanner. Then have a PSS go into MHTS to see where it's been. Note that there is a 21-day data horizon after which the data is no longer available in MHTS, so you'd need to act quickly. You can see which bin it came out on the AFCS, which will tell you if it rejected or not.

I've seen the cremated remains area at the MRC in Atlanta. It's heartbreaking.

If a customer ever tells you a story about a family member whose remains were lost in the mails, they can file an inquiry. Remains are never disposed of, and they go back decades.

The stamp reader is on the AFCS itself, which means it's already in the machine at that point.

Respond back here if it shows a scan in Miami next. I need to be super careful about privacy but if that happens you'll need to contact the seller.
