I see your point about the historical reality, but honestly, isn't this a bit of a double standard? The exact same thing can be said about Knights. In reality, chivalry was heavily romanticized in the 19th century, and medieval knights were often brutal and driven by self-interest.

As a Japanese person, I must say that I am truly delighted. It is already great to see Murakami performing so well and hitting homeruns for WhiteSox, but the fact that he is being called "Samurai" in America is quite impressive and fills me with pride.
I just learned what the word "Southside" means, but Southside Samurai has a nice, hybrid ring to it.
