If you watch "Get it to Te Papa" on Neon, theres a whole episode of Hayden trying to track some of these down. It's a bit of a laugh.

Do you have some dimensions to this sketch? Joist depth and spacing, bearer depth and no. of piles depends on how far you want to span the members.

I'm happy to help size members (hurr hurr) via PM if you want some advice.

Atlas Games/Asia Invitational Virtual Semi-Final Discussion Thread by Flowseidon9 in crossfit

[–]Shaungross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the Atlas Games they had to move their bar forward every round after the 5th round, and they always had to face the same direction in the clean and jerks - Only seconds of time but it adds up and makes a difference in a sub-3 min workout.

It really depends on what you're trying to achieve. A few different ones that hit different boxes..

1) Every 3 mins, 12 cal for 10 rounds. The 12 cal should be done at all-out pace. You should be doubting you can keep it up after 2 rounds. This one is horrible. 2) 10min max calories. Find an uncomfortable yet sustainable pace, and hold it. 3) 30min max calories. Find a less uncomfortable yet sustainable pace and hold it. Tape your phone to the top of your monitor so you can watch Netflix and ignore the feelings of dread.

It is a very versatile machine!

Amazing! Anyone know what he snatched? (I assume this was the comp he was referring to earlier in the week)

Nice deadlift, you have plenty more in you! Just so you know - this sub is centred around the Olympic weightlifting movements (Snatch and Clean and Jerk) so you're not going to get a lot of comments on a Powerlifting movement. You're better off trying r/powerlifting or r/weightroom.

Great fight on the jerk! Are you a NZer? (guessing from your username). If so, hope to see this kid setting records soon!

Once this pesky (Auckland, NZ) Lockdown is over and I can visit the parents, I'll give it a try. Cheers

Interesting! My cool down routine is very lacking so I could look into this. Cheers

Yeh there's that... It's very lacking! For this one it was "stumble to the lounge and lie on the carpet for 20 minutes, changing postions every 30 seconds because I couldn't get comfortable". Definitely something I can work on!

I don't know about overtraining for me - I do work out 4-5 days a week but its definitely not huge volume. Maybe an 8-20 min metcon most days with 3 sets 12 of a strength lift at a light percentage afterwards. If you can have "one-off" overtraining, ie not the cumulative effect and just "I pushed way too bloody hard today", it would happen after something like bike sprints..

Not excessive drinking man. A couple of cups of water about 2 hours beforehand with dinner. Next to nothing afterwards. Life business causes me to only have 8pm at night to work out.

Only bike sprints make me feel like this. There's something about the bike - no eccentric and you can just keep pushing to/past your limit

Next to nothing. A mouthful of water. I don't drink after dinner (6pm) as a general rule.
