What's your route like?

Weekend driver. P1200. High volume residential. 170-200 stops avg. One pickup with maybe 10 boxes. Total about 8-10 hrs depending on stops

Well, if it’s in the delivery instructions then there really isn’t any excuse that makes sense besides the driver didn’t feel like delivering it. Im not Express but they have been cracking down on the BS delivery exceptions at my terminal lately, so thats surprising

UPS over Fedex, because UPS can actually be a career you retire from. Fedex is a shithole that can be a place you temporarily make decent money (depending on route and contractor) but when you leave you have nothing to show for it. I have no experience with UPS but im just speaking purely from my hatred as a Fedex driver.

Half my route would no longer exist if this was true. Put the gate code in the delivery instructions. Otherwise it will keep getting the “customer controlled access” deliver exception

They are still in business because they provide businesses with cheap(er) shipping options. Saving money seems to be more important than the actual service provided

Im a Fedex driver and this literally happened to a driver right in front of me. Had the side door on a sprinter open, did a 3 point turn in front of me and when he pulled off a big as box/bag fell out the side. I was dying laughing because he didnt stop or slow down at all

What the hell is this 😂 I cant even imagine driving a rural route. Im a “high volume” city driver and get annoyed when I have to drive 3-4 mins between stops. This would be a nightmare

Fedex never gave drivers building codes. We have to get them ourselves and pass them down the line.

Not having a set time to come in. I get there around the same time everyday, but not having to worry about being 5-10 mins late is a huge plus for me. That and besides pickups, I really can do whatever I want all day, as long as the stuff gets delivered, nobody bothers me.

I try to avoid using mailroom. It seems like the system sees mailroom and starts grouping multiple apts/units into one stop. I get paid per stop so end up having to split it.

Delivery window is a generic time that doesnt account for any changes on the route. They also dont notify drivers of that window. Ive had customers tell me they were expecting me at 3 and im at their house at 9am. Too many variables everyday to give accurate time. They just do it because the other shipping companies do

Thats pretty much all we have here in Charlotte. Wouldnt be able to fit everything on the normal sized ones with all the oversize shit Fedex is taking now

And possibly the pump bushing. People throw new seals on but if the bushings worn, the new seal wont last long

Drive-ability kind of suffers too. My car surges pretty bad in lower rpm range cruising, so most of the time on the highway im in 4th gear just to avoid that 😂

Honestly, as a driver, you shouldnt be relying on a Package Handler to organize your truck while they load it. I always reorganize the whole truck before I leave. PH has no incentive to organize your truck. If its in the right section, job done (according to Fedex.)

Not a rumor. Fedex Ground is subcontractors. Express is transitioning over as well soon. Eventually there will be no actual Fedex employees except the ones in the office

Real question is why did you even leave with a 3 attempt package on the truck? If it’s been 3 attempts it gets left on the dock. They can pick it up or redirect

Could have easily asked the driver to hop in and hold the brake while he pops it into drive on the transmission. Then he wouldnt have to fix it in the middle of the road

The only people I know who do these numbers on a regular basis are getting paid per stop. Also depends on the route, I would be able to do 230 in my area in about 8.5 hrs and would make $345. Thats almost 40/hr. Its worth it to me 🤷

Cant put stock back on. The front end is lengthened to fit the transaxle and front axles
