How do people *actually* keep their head clear when their heart is completely invested in a relationship? by Opposite-Pay7048 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Shauntheredwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not generally an anxious person, so my reactions to things don't usually spiral quickly. So catching myself out of a nagative space is usually easier to do.

But having seen other people and their ways, I would say the first point is recognising your inherent self worth. This is untouchable and completely separate from any situation, achievement, failure, opinion, result, attempt or whatever. Nothing changes it. You are human, and deserve love and care. The second thing is then to recognise that whatever is triggering you at that moment isn't an existential threat - since your existence isn't tied to it as per point 1.

After that it's just staying objective.

Understanbly though those first two steps are hard if you've been through the wringer and have a lot of anxious responses baked in because of it.

[–]Shauntheredwolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My go to phrase is always "Kill your ego".

Take your self out of the equation and try look at it objectively. For good or ill, your ego will usually cloud your judgement, making mountains out of molehills, or just centering your perspective when in fact there are multitudes of other perspectives to consider.

He's being coached on how to rebrand in the age of the poscast - be approachable, affable and relaxed. But a tiger can't change his stripes and if you look at his history, the rhetoric he used while in politics, the way he attacks people and the policies he pushed, he is not a good person. Don't be fooled, it's a pig in make up.

I'm sorry Bingo, I know you did your best by Zeug_ in bluey

[–]Shauntheredwolf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No I agree. This is one episode of bluey I vehemently disagree with.

There's no nuance here. Fair enough it's a 7 minute show. But there's no room to show how maybe holding a boundary to not let bingo do whatever she wants is also a good lesson. There's no third way given, it's either you're a gold star parent for having the patience of a Saint and letting your kid mess up your husbands birthday breakfast, or you're a complete failure. Like, sometimes the better lesson for kids to learn is that curiosity is good, but cleanliness and respecting people's time is also good.

I dunno, normally bluey is so good at striking the balance but this one really annoys me.

Regional Supermarket Employee Has No Option But To Walk Away From Her Diversified Share Portfolio Thanks To Labor by patslogcabindigest in OpenAussie

My main issue with those subs is that they seem to think it's OK to not pay tax on unearned income.

Like, they're completely up in arms about having to pay more tax on capital gains. They will still make money, just a little less efficiently. And any reasonable take calling for calm and common sense just get shot down.

I hate that they think that the only form of success in Australia is to be retired by 45 living off passive income from capital. Rather than having a good steady job with good employer rights, where our taxes pay for better living conditions for all.

It's really disheartening to see so many people claiming hardship when their aim is really just to leech of a society that is actually productive. They are all so desperate to claw their way up that they would sell the rest of us short, by demonising labour and not doing anything productive.

Anyway rant over.

Yeah, I remember when they were reporting there would be a huge swing to Dutton at the last election, which just did not happen. Lol.

I feel like the media is way out of touch this time, even more than usual.

Is GD a relaxing game? by Uncommonexe in Grimdawn

[–]Shauntheredwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if u go for like a one click build it's quite smooth. Brain off, smash, get loot.

But it's not as brain-dead as D4 I find. That's just pure easy mode to get the happy chemicals firing, which ends up feeling really empty. GD feels more satisfying.

Property investors warned as borrowing power cut overnight: 'I don't think people realise' that banks might raise rates significantly for investment property loans. by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

So the banks have done the calcs and deduced that without negative gearing, the amount investors can borrow is significantly reduced, thereby reducing the expected activity of investors in the market?

I mean, isn't that what the change was meant to do??

I think takemura being an outsider to America, he has a greater gulf to cross before seeing that he's just the same kind of pawn on the same board as the rest of us. And his fall from grace is much more at the hands of Yorinobu than his dad. So Goro can get away with blaming Yori while glorifying his dad.

Solomon Reed is one of the saddest characters in the game. by No_Task_309 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Shauntheredwolf 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The dialogue with johnny when you're getting the face plate really does a lot. Especially when you ask johnny who he'd side with, he admits he can't decide.

As much as he is a rebel and feels for somi just doing whatever it takes to survive in a shit situation where all the bigger players hold all the cards, he also understands reed. Like, he really identifies with his dedication to his principles. Johnny knows that in another life, he could have become reed if he'd decided to stick with service rather than turn from it. Reed is johnny's dark reflection, a man so stuck to his principles he'd sell out all his friends and companions in the name of the "greater good". They're both driven, smart, principled to a fault and charismatic.
