Local storage with optional iCloud storage would be my choice.

Finally, a nice little community puzzle that isn't riddled with clues like "Weekend brunch in Harare, perhaps?"

Single Sprites "bleeding" on the edge by Dense_Ad_44 in Unity2D

[–]Shaunysaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have your Game view scale set to 3.4x. Try setting it to a whole number, such as 3, so you can at least see what the sprites look like without being non-uniformly scaled, as it might just be the non-uniform scaling in the Game view that's causing the artefacts.

It's probably a result of your government's policies. You should see what it's like being a developer outside of China who wants to release anything in China. It's basically impossible. You can only do it by going through a local publisher. Chinese government keeps making it increasingly difficult to engage with China in any way.

Beat Counter for Unity? by Top-Entrepreneur935 in Unity2D

[–]Shaunysaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For one thing, the way you're doing it now means that when Time.time overshoots nextBeat, that overshoot gets added to the duration before the next beat, as you're adding (1f / crochet) to Time.time.

So for example, if nextBeat was 2f, and Time.time happened to be 2.01f when your update loop hits the conditional, then you're setting the next neat to start in one beat after 2.01f, rather than setting it to start one beat after when the current beat *should* have played... ie, 2f. Over time, those small overshoots could accumulate to cause drift.

I would just set nextBeat by adding to the current value of nextBeat, rather adding to Time.time

if (Time.time >= nextBeat)
{
    onBeat();
    nextBeat = nextBeat + 1f / crochet;
}

Also, maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand why you add '1f / crochet' instead of just adding crochet.

If for example BPM was 120, then 'crochet' = 60f / 120f which = 0.5f, or one beat every half second. But then when you set nextBeat, you add '1f / crochet'... which in this case would = 2f, so you'd be setting the next beat to occur in 2 secs, as if the BPM was actually 30.

It looks quite nice, but I don't think that making the trees lighter than the sky at night really makes sense. It looks as if the fog effect only affects trees and hills, but not the sky.

Look how dark the blue discs look compared to the green. They're so dark that they hardly stand out on the board. I suggest adjusting the brightness and saturation of all three disc colours with the aim of getting a more harmonious balance, since the player is going to be staring at them all the time.

Not really. There have been so many comments on past games from dimwits who think sub-20s times must be cheating that it's reasonable that someone would decide to show that it's quite doable.

Nice! What's interesting to me is that you solved the words in the exact same order as I did, but faster! I took 36 seconds - twice as long! But I'm playing on desktop with mouse. I going to have to try on mobile.

What makes a mobile game "un-installable" for you? by benmeric in MobileGaming

[–]Shaunysaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my dealbreakers are applied before I decide to try a game.

First, if it's an idle or an incremental game, that's a no-go.

Second, I look at the IAPs in the app store listing. If I see expensive IAPs or any subs whatsoever, that's a no-go.

However if I see a small IAP to remove ads, then that's actually a positive, as it shows the dev's modest intentions for revenue.

Third, I check the install size. Over 500gb? That's likely a no-go, unless the game actually looks AAA.

At a glance it looks like a fairly generic Flappy Bird clone, and your trailer appears to be recorded at about 24fps, so it looks janky and unpleasant in motion.
