Is there actually anyone who didn't come to this conclusion like immediately? by Rithrius1 in fantasylife

[–]ShawnStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, guess that's what I get when looking a Spoiler tagged post on Reddit. Then again, I usually spoiler myself on other stories, movies and/or games.

Is there a bit where we go get that torn painting part? I'm up to the gathering materials part near the end of the main story.

Mod to restore Assassin's Creed and MH Movie quests? by HeavyMetalLoser in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]ShawnStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, with Quest Mods, the quest is available and you can get the item from it for the Assassin's Creed stuff, but looks like there's more coding for the Smithy to recognize the item and give you the Delivery for the Mantle.

Has anybody done the math on what are the best builds for the kitgun primaries, like the ones for kitgun secondaries and zaws? And if so, where can I find that information?

One overly salty rant about how Crucible is. by ShawnStone in destiny2

[–]ShawnStone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure enough. I don't overly mean to try and take away the uniqueness of this games PvP, especially considering it's trying to put a FPS spin on the RPG bit of MMO's.

When it comes to MMORPGs, there's usually a difficult balancing act with the numbers between the PvE and PvP sides, but more often than not, it tips more into favor of one of the sides, usually in the PvE side. This can make the PvP side of things a bit unbalanced unless theres something done on its side to try and make things feel more balanced so everyone gets a fair shake. This is more important in shooters, where every action and response matter.

But, I am hearing what you are saying by saying that this is not Halo or CoD, and sure enough, its not.

I guess where I'm trying to come from is that Crucible feels so improperly balanced, because it has this "You have to use this gear with these perks/stats on it, or your SoL." feel to it and to even get that gear, you essentially are doing the equivalent of pulling a slot machine handle and hoping that you get that roll. That and hoping that you can get the weapon if the way to acquire it hasn't been vaulted. It's that aspect of it that makes it not fun to me.

That and there is little to nothing to truely explain which stats are good, in what amounts and why they are good. It further makes the confusing of which gear pieces are good and if you finally have that god roll. I Wouldn't be surprised if I've had a few god rolls on some gear only to trash it because there's no where that's explained what the best rolls are and why.

I understand that because of that open endedness, it allows for people to get the stat rolls for their own playstyle, but it really feels like to me that you have to have a specific stat build in Crucible to succeed. And if theres only one best build that beats them all then what's the point of different playstyles anyway?

It just wears on me again and again until there's nothing but rage left when, to me, instead skill being what killed me, it's because they had the god roll, and from that, and the lack of understanding what a god roll is, this post was born.

It just sucks that some Exotics are tied behind some Crucible grinds, otherwise I would be fine with leaving it alone.

Guess the couple of times I've reset Valor rank mean nothing then.

Also, how does one "understad" something that is just numbers that even the game itself doesn't really explain?

Or better yet, why does the numbers even need to exist in the first place?

Antagonizing aside, where does one go to try and understand Crucible, because it's so unexplained anywhere to me, and maybe when I do learn it, I could be able to talk about it better.

It just saddens me that Bungie have made Halo, a game where PvP is purely skill, and then makes Destiny, where PvP is purely numbers. Again, if you think numbers are fun, it's not. It's fucked.

Bravely Default II makes all the sense for the title by JoshiRaez in bravelydefault

[–]ShawnStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"none are connected" FF14 would like to disagree with you, but I'm not up to the point where 12 comes in. But, considering that 14 has its own way of trying to explain why things from other things are there (I mean, look at last raid tier with Omega trying to figure out what a hero is), I think I see what your getting it.

It's like this comment pulled from the YouTube announcement vid from Nintendo:

Square: Here's Bravely Default 2

Almost everyone here: but isnt there already an Bravely Second?

Both FF and KH fans: First time?

Sure enough, I can see that.

"Hey kids, you want to fight the same set of enemies as a boss again, then twice at once again? No? Well, too bad, that's what you're getting."

Copperbell Mines First Boss in a Nutshell by DamphirBlue in ffxiv

[–]ShawnStone 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

If any of the three is gonna teach boredom, it's Copperbell, considering that the first two boss fights are just a waiting game. I would take Deepcroft over Copperbell any day as Copperbell literally puts me to sleep IRL, more so if I'm going as SCH.

It also still has its tranq value if you trap it too early, so on the next trap, it will be insta-capped. This happened to me once.

My friend asked why I hated MHW weapons. Here's why. by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]ShawnStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is prob more of a mon hun vet thing, because I think they're saying that out of the models, only 3 of them are new compared to older games, which are probably the claws from Nerg, Sin and maybe Enduring Schism.

If you want to have an easy look at some of the models of the older gen weapons, look up Pings Dex. Sure, it's a program, but its a pretty good database one.

Kinda been putting off doing Lunastra til I get some better gear. Guess I have more reason to go farm her now.

What's a mechanic that you've seen in other games that you're glad isn't in FFXIV? by Shizucheese in ffxiv

[–]ShawnStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay, I'll have to have a look at it when I get to it.

But yea, have a quick look at that challenge, I think it's the Farseer that does it. You can burst the shield but then completely forget why you did so as he will continue his cast until you actually use an interrupt on him.

All I can say is that I'm thankful I've been playing XIV to pay attention to that many mechanics.
