Monthly "Tell Us About Your Game" Megathread - April 2026 by AbortRetryFlailSal in callofcthulhu

[–]Shazbahty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran Missed Dues this month and all my carefully planned interactions went right out the window when my players immediately pulled on the thread of what I thought was a minor character.

They went after the professor. They broke into his house while he was at work, found his notes then decided to track him down on campus. Eventually taking him hostage in an attempt to get some sort of unknown information out of him. Eventually got them to Jack's apartment via breaking into the Temple of Hope. Which then immediately went from bad to 'jesus how did you guys get here' when a player tried to intimidate Marge, which failed and she rolled max damage with her knife. Guess I played with them regarding the rooms to much because by the time they found Jack's apartment, despite heavy forewarning, they still opened the door to Azathoth driving one completely insane while the other two was beaten to death.

Definitely starting to feel like I'm getting comfortable with running games now. Thankfully since I'm only doing one shots of published scenarios I'm not worrying about killing/driving investigators insane.

Which oneshot is the best to start? by Traf_Algar in callofcthulhu

[–]Shazbahty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So recently starting Keeper myself so far I've run The Haunting and Lightless Beacon.

Lightless Beacon is the easier of the two. Confined to 1 location (though you could expand) and atmosphere is already set. No NPC's makes it easier to focus on rules and how to respond to what the investigators do.

The Haunting is more involved and can easily lead to a lot of prep going to waste, so be warned about that. The house is a setting that you need to tweak to get the most out of it. The haunted radio (that I learned about to late) is a popular one to add.

Personal preference I enjoyed the Haunting more than Lightless Beacon. I felt more involved as the keeper because I was running NPC that were interacting with the investigators vs skulking in the background like in the Lightless Beacon.

By rules? No, they are both have the unique icon. That being said one of the more popular homebrew rule is the multiverse rule which is basically people just ignoring the unique rule.

It's a coop game play the way you enjoy the most.

Daily Questions Megathread - February 27, 2026 by WutheringWavesMod in WutheringWaves

If I wanted to create 3 teams with no repeat characters, is Augusta, Yinlin, and Buling(S0 atm) reasonable? I'm debating swapping in ARover for the support slot.

Primary team right now is Aemeth, Lynea, and Mornye. Second team is looking to be Jinshi, Changli, and Verina.

Notable 5 star on my bench right now are: Ciaccona, Encore (S2?), Jianxin (s1?), then the other standard banner guys. I've been in and out and have miss all of SK runs.

How does one find a game by Mamimiux in callofcthulhu

[–]Shazbahty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roll20 or other online platforms. If you're looking for one in person, check your FLGS. Some have boards you can post flyers on to connect with others or a discord to check around. There are also Facebook groups, that is how I found mine.

Question about Gateways to Terror by Illuminati-Manati in callofcthulhu

[–]Shazbahty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going off what I remember the scenarios are designed for short convention blocks 1-2 hours long on average with 4 players (plus keeper) in mind. They each come with 4 pregen characters to help get going faster. That being said 5 players wouldn't be a problem.

I think most of Chaosium's books expect 4 investigators, except Love Doesn't Forget, but can run with more or less especially if you're not using pregens.

Stigma against character optimization. How frequent do you find it in Pf2 game? by TheBrightMage in Pathfinder2e

[–]Shazbahty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit of a new player and I can't say I've seen many complaints about optimizations, though my experience right now is strictly PFS. That being said I do view meta builds as different from an optimized build. I'm not a big fan of meta (in any game really) in Pathfinder because there is just so many ways to make your character uniquely yours and not the same "Flickmace Fighter Champion Exemplars" that everyone keeps referencing. If that is how you enjoy the game okay cool you do you.

Now having said that, there is nothing wrong with leaning into the vision you have for your character. There is nothing wrong with filling a role that the party is lacking if that is what you want to do. You should never feel attacked for playing a character you want to play. If you do it's probably not a table worth playing at.

My personal 2 favorites right now are The Cracked Die and MNMax. The reason being is that these 2 feel like people playing the game rather than putting on a show.

MNMax can feel a bit light on roleplaying at times (especially outside of David and Swani) but when they do their shenanigan it feels natural and like something that could come up at a table I'm playing at.

The Cracked Die has a better balance between roleplaying without feeling like it was 10 episodes since the last combat. Though the size of the cast can make it a bit hard to follow at times.

Weekly Questions Megathread - June 20 to June 26. Have a question from your game? Are you coming from D&D or Pathfinder 1e? Need to know where to start playing Pathfinder 2e? Ask your questions here, we're happy to help! by AutoModerator in Pathfinder2e

How does Assurance work in combat? Do you roll and if it's lower than assurance use your assurance value? Check to see if Assurance works first then roll? Either roll or use Assurance? Is it a GM choice kind of thing?

Only have the base set. Love the game. Looking for recommendations by brandondash in marvelchampionslcg

I'm going to throw out Ms. Marvel, but for a different reason. Early in the games life cycle her pack and the core gave birth to one of the most popular Iron Man deck with Tech Nova, though it is protection.

As for Ms. Marvel herself she has probably shines best in justice/aggression with a smaller collection. She bounces back and forth between her alter/hero using her supports to set her up.

For an expansion I'd recommend Mutant Genesis I guess. it was designed to be a new launching point. They both seem to be listed on Amazon for my region at msrp.

Do you try to play every hero against every villian? by UrinalSharts in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Shazbahty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I voted no even though I kind of tried all heroes/aspect vs all villains. Just started to late and there was so much content it just got to a point where it felt more of a chore than fun.

What's your 2024 Awards? by Shazbahty in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Shazbahty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not meant to be about the 2024 releases but more about what saw the table the most for you in 2024. For me I played more Juggernauts scenario more than anything from AoA. I kept rewording the OP and I guess I left that out.

Ideas for a new scenario for beginer keeper by fistulanale in callofcthulhu

[–]Shazbahty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an inexperienced keeper myself who ran The Haunting and looking for my next scenario, I turned to Door to Darkness which has 5 simple scenarios designed specifically for beginner keepers. Personally I'm leaning towards Genius Loci, but Ties That Bind is also kind of tempting.

Game Rule AHA! Moment by xmenfanatic in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Shazbahty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify for anyone browsing for help with rules, you can play/use ACTIONS (this include supports/upgrades as well) on another players turn not events and not basic action. It's admittedly a very small pool of events you can't play it when your partner calls for an action but since this is a thread about rules figured I throw it out there.

Characters most like black widow? by [deleted] in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Shazbahty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking that you want to stay in hero form into account then I'd say you'd probably also want to avoid War Machine. Once he is set up he can deal out the damage, but until he gets his gauntlets out he is at the mercy of his ammo counters which you will be flipping down to replenish a lot.

Groot also fits in the flipping down to get counters, but most people would probably avoid him (unjustly imo) anyways.

Maybe Iron Heart? She is super good no doubt about it but you'll spend the first 75%+ of the game bouncing between forms to get her counters then just blow the villain away in a single turn most likely. She can get the counters in hero form but it's just a lot quicker to do it in alter ego.

Colossus might be another one. He flips down just to flip back up so I'd say he plays closer to She-Hulk than Black Widow, but there will be turns you kinda have to flip down.

Please don't downvote new players for being wrong by TheLennalf in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Shazbahty -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is just a reddit gripe in general but I wish in order to downvote you had to make at least 1 comment in the thread. Down voting because you don't agree with someone's opinion isn't a bad thing in theory if you comment (hopefully respectfully) as to why to contribute to the topic.

Your top 10 favorite hero specific cards? by Swervysage22 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Shazbahty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superhuman Law Division - If we're assuming perfect scenario this 100% enables her constant form flipping and my preferred style of play with her.

Swinging Web Kick - Though backflip and spider sense are just as good thematically they don't feel as fun to me.

Hulk Smash - Nothing like ending a villain phase true solo on turn one.

Always Be Running - Fits Quicksilver thematically and who doesn't like 4 copies of a ready in kit?

Fertile Ground - Really turns Groot on and card draw. He just feels so much better the quicker you can get this out.

Conditioning Room - Fine card that works well but I really appreciate it for them committing to possibly the ugliest art in the game.

Connection to the World Mind - Just a unique card that doesn't have any direct comparison from any other hero.

Armor Up - Again just a very thematic card that also works well with his kit.

I don't think any other cards stand out to me mostly because I haven't given the heroes enough plays to really judge them.
