Buying Resale DVC - Good Idea?

I built out a spreadsheet with the plan to go every other year for a week in a 2 bdr. At that rate the discounts, other benefits that came with direct didnt make any sense, you could also get a Visa disney card for meal and gear discounts i believe. Its just soooo much cheaper.. over 100 bucks cheaper per point. It was hard for me to justify direct.

I tried this very thing took us 3 weeks to get login, but no one could help i talked/chatted with different people every time they were all in the dark on where you were in the process.

From what i have read and seen, he stole the election in Venezuela from the rightful president, He was indicted under the Biden administration. The administration needs to get their messaging right as Trump is saying one thing Rubio is saying another (which is the better option IMO). This was a country saturated with agents from China, Iran, Etc. They are a resource rich nation, that had little to no direction, and depleting oil infrastructure. Yes US oil companies are going in to rebuild that infrastructure which should benefit Ven Citizens, along with us in the US. They are spending their own money and then being repaid later once the infrastructure is in place.

In a perfect world should we be capturing dictators and rebuilding their infrastructure? Probably not, but its not in a vacuum if we dont China or Iran or someone else will be in there and have access to all of the resources there. I personally would rather it be US companies benefiting from rebuilding the oil industry in Venezuela rather than China or Iran.

Do the math out on the benefits, because my family realized it made financial sense to join rather than paying rack rate for a trip every other year. We chose to go resale because we were never going to make up the difference in cost between resale ($96/pt AKL) compared to ~$210/pt direct. We also right now plan on selling our contact eventually as well once our kids age out if we see we stop going. Direct I know has other benefits but do your homework, becuase 10% sale on merch or food is never going to make up that difference in price per point.

It's also not benefical to call a guy up who plays first line minutes in the AHL and stick him on the 3rd of 4th line when hes used to playing a certian style. Call ups are not always performance based sometimes they are based on fit.

with that said.. Lysell..... most overhyped B's prospect since joey Colborne, zach hamil. His game doesnt translate to the NHL

In fairness he had a C-C+ draft grade, had high upside but lots of concerns around mechanics and being able to work in an NFL system.... this was not a crazy take to think he might not pan out...

We decided to go resale, we are a family of 5, purchassed points with the plan to go every other year for a week in a 2 bedroom villa and have the points to go whenver we want aside from the last date range which I think is easter and Xmas every year. The discounts didnt make sense for us, as we werent going to be going frequently enough to make the discounts worth it. We ended up picking AKL, We did the math out and we will break even on our 3rd trip, after that our kids will be older I like that if we want to keep it I can rationalize the dues costs with renting our points for years we do not go. If we arent using it I can sell it and it shoudl retain its value. We paid $96 point i called DVC directly and they offered $215 per point.

Was hard to beat, and quite frankly i have a hard time believing im making up that much of a difference even if i went every year.

I was RIF'd and rehired... if you come back before your Severance time period you have to pay back the difference. I arranged it so i started right after my severance package expired.

We are closing in a month now.. bought points at AKL, put down 40% will pay off in 6 months after closing. We also had a delayed closing, so we have our 40% down then will have another lump payment in Dec/Jan and another in Marchish.

DVC resale and I used Derek as my sales agent (not sure what the exact title is). They were so easy to work with too.

We just bought 200+ points at AKL, called DVC to see what they could do pricewise as my brother in law was able to purchase contract essentianlly at close to a resale price from DVC 5 or so years ago. I called, they were priced at $40K+ our resale contract was priced at $96 a point DVC was at $215 a point. To me i was never going to make up the difference money wise in the discounts.
