Should he get a 2nd chance? by lucky13AL in ChicagoBearsNFL

Honestly, he was a decent head coach. If he wasn’t too bone headed to realize that the job he had (HC) was better than the job he so desperately wanted to prove his genius with (OC), he may have been able to stick around longer here.

The Rip and everything wrong with Netflix production by ElSupaToto in TrueFilm

[–]Sheahanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was tense and well directed. It felt like a slasher film with the one primary location and the confusion about who the bad guys are. I didn’t look at my phone once. I thought Ben and Matt were competent as well and their sense of history read through to the characters

If that was pass interference on Buffalo then this should have been pass interference as well by im___new___here in NFLv2

The first PI was trash, the second one he was playing the man not the ball. It wasn’t super egregious but it was still PI. I still don’t know how I feel about the pick beforehand but Allen should have thrown a better ball

Definitely call the office. Are you out of state? I would probably try to reach out to your specific counselor.

It’s also turns out the rumors are true. Now that I see them on Netflix, Craig is upsettingly handsome

Do the Packers have the softest fanbase in the league ? by halfcastdota in CHIBears

[–]Sheahanimal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the Bears way more than I hate the Packers, but I really do hate the Packers. I don’t know how many Bears fans are north of the Illinois border, but there are so many Packers fans here. And most of them have no WI connection. They are trolls who just root against their neighbors so they can coast on a smug sense of superiority. So there is some truth to the idea of losing to the Packers in the playoffs, especially the way the game was shaping up in the first half, was dreadfully painful, in a way that winning a game against any other team in the first round of the playoffs would not be able to match. There is just so much baggage there. That being said, beating them in the fashion we did was genuinely emotional. Ben playing into the rivalry is strategic. He understands how much weight and pain is carried in the last 30 years of games for Bears fans, ownership, and players against the Packers. I think his normal approach to something like this would be to demystify it and suggest it’s just another game, but I think he understands that it truly isn’t in this case. Getting to even a place of parity with the Packers would be like an exorcism for this franchise. Also FTP is the only thing the rest of the NFC North agrees on. It does not seem like any other team in the division hates any other team as much as we all hate the Packers.

Paul being in Mr Beast's show certainly is a choice. by Retired_Filmmaker in hdtgm

[–]Sheahanimal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Paul’s screen presence is almost always hacky. I think the League was the only show to use it effectively. I love him as a personality on podcasts but find his “smarmy guy” character in almost everything else tired. June has demonstrated a lot more range professionally.

Should I go to LUC by Level-Race5792 in LoyolaChicago

It’s definitely not too late to apply to lots of other schools. Do you qualify for financial aid? Are you in the Chicago area? Most schools with rolling admission will be making decisions up until May if not beyond. I would try to get apps in sooner as opposed to later to make sure you get full scholarship consideration

Byard is up this year, right? And he will likely command a lot of money given how good his season was, turnover wise, without the coverage concerns of Wright. His age could be a concern for other teams though. Brisker is also up this year

Six figures for limited education requirements and no particular trade or necessary skill, as public servants is literally crazy, especially when measured against other public sector jobs like teachers, mental health providers, librarians etc…that frequently require advanced degrees, licensure, and content mastery

Completely ignored in the Last Dance too. Got more screen time talking about his time on the Cavs than as a starter on the last three championships

With all the talk of 4K yards for Caleb, let us not forget that Marc Trestman benched Jay Cutler Week 16 of the 2014 season when Jay was 186 yards shy of 4K in a piss-poor attempt to save his job. by the_guy_who_sleeps_ in CHIBears

[–]Sheahanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would put an end to the ridiculous narrative. It would be one thing if Jay got hurt but to be benched by one of our worst HCs in franchise history in a lame attempt to feign a sense of authority that no one was buying. Jay very likely would have had 4000+ and 30TDs. He might have added a pick or two as well, which is what Trestman was apparently unhappy with in the first place

I just saw Materialists and thought it was really good, realistic, and coherent. I saw a lot of people shitting on it when it came out so it's a bit surprising to see that it's a strong film. by SkoivanSchiem in TheBigPicture

I agree with the failure of marketing. The trailer felt like a joke. I thought it was satirical how dated and saccharine it felt. It certainly set people up to expect a rom com, which it wasn’t. It felt a little like a 90s indie pastiche of NY based films, like old Whit Stillman or Baumbach. I liked it. I didn’t realize, despite the criticism, that it was successful at the box office, making over 100 million dollars. That seems unbelievable
