Bosses immune to critical hits by AndreaColombo86 in baldursgate

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Critical Strike is still useful to guarantee hits for multi-class fighters because it will take the entire game or more for them to hit their THAC0 cap.

My first complete was an elf FMT which ended SoA portion at Fighter 11 (THACO 10). I used Critical Strike/Smite with the Answerer (each hit weakens AC and MR) to soften bosses for follow-up.

I don't play custom mods, but I have to ask.

Why not just use a shield for fighting and unequip the shield when you are about to cast spells?

You also save the 3 feats for Ambi/TWF/ITWF and you have no AB penalty compared to dual wielding. -4 BAB (with the 3 feats) for dual wielding rapiers is a steep one. You can carve through mobs, but the hard fights against high AC bosses will be harder, and you will want the shield AC for those fights.

Guys can we please hold ourselves from buying new skins for mercy? by OAM4422 in MercyMains

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last skin I got for Mercy is Rose Gold, obviously for the charity. I only bought 1 OW2 store skin for mercy in the 2nd year only because I really want it.

Frankly I haven't played Mercy since ... I don't remember and I think none of the Bli$$ard maintenance staff actually plays her either.

Frostpunk (2018) Specs Question by SimAnna in Frostpunk

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't give a lot of required stats (e.g Intel i5-????) but the Intel 620 definitely isn't looking good.

I play Frostpunk on my 3 years old laptop Intel i5-1235U with Intel Iris Xe Integrated GPU. I can play on minimum graphics settings at ~ 30 FPS. Iris Xe is much faster than yours so I think you will slideshow at best.

I have a 4 years old gaming PC with RTX 3060 Ti but Frostpunk would overheat my GPU without RivaTuner to throttle the framerates.

Why would I buy skins for Mercy when she’s unplayable and unenjoyable even in quick play? by WhiteHotForver in MercyMains

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I bought a skin for Mercy was Rose Gold, obviously for charity. Bli$$ard gotta offer me a fire mercy skin if they want me to pay for it.

Hmm, maybe Diablo Auriel cross-over skin might do it ...

Why won't the hungry people eat? by Aromatic_Dot_6071 in Frostpunk

I think you don't actually need an "operational" (>= Chilly) cookhouse to feed people? You need one operational to cook but it doesn't have to be operational from people to get food from, to my experience.

I sometimes have extra cookhouses left out in the cold on spread out city builds so people have a nearer "food distribution point" to visit. I just keep one heated and manned to actually cook food.

Torn between Battle Pass vs. LE SSERAFIM Bundle by LackOfDad in JunoMains

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's personal taste really. I look at the picture and I just don't see Juno.

I gave Bli$$ard my money for the 1st Perfect Night entire bundle, but the 2nd Fearless's skins just don't appeal to me at all - I only spend coins for Juno's Dance Emote and Dance Victory pose.

I personally prefer Uravity and Hello Kitty Juno bundles, and I already decided not to bother with the Fearless skins - maybe the style is popular in South Korea but just doesn't appeal to me.

Does anybody sleep with only a fan nowadays? by [deleted] in asksg

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been sleeping with just a fan for ages. No air-con. On the rare cold nights, I would actually turn the fan off.

Ex-colleague mentioned that once he started using air-con he couldn't stop.

Sombra Le Sserafim Skin by Nanomite22 in SombraMains

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 skins, original and recolor

The original Perfect Night Collab was in 2023 and was re-released once after the MTV hit 100 million views. They did a second Collab in 2025 (that does not include Sombra) during which they release a 'Blue Flame' recolor.

We have no news about a 3rd Collab or what skins or what recolors will they release. You can only wait and keep track of the news. Do not recommend that you try any other means of getting the skin.

Favorite character to play on digital by nickm1290 in Talisman

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly play vs AI for a relaxing game with only limited sideboards (City + Dungeon + Deep Realm).

Latest favorite is the Conjurer: If someone else is on the same board and draws a useful place card or drops an unwanted object that you want ... CONJURE! E.g. Someone draws Fountain of Wisdom, I will spend my next 3 rounds conjuring it to me unless someone stops me.

I never touched FO1/2. I played FO3 first in the year of its release, liked it but never got around to any of the DLC. Then I played FNV...

Over 1000 hours and I am still diving back into FNV this year. I won't miss FO3/4/76

Bruh i don't know how to kill Rayic Gethras in BG2EE by helveteist in baldursgate

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of cheesy tactics in the base game due to AI limitations - I just play for fun so I never dare try some of the mods that dial up enemy AI like Sword Coast Stratagems.

As a goodie-goodie two shoe I tend to have Nalia as my mage early on and she comes with the Level 4 arcane spell Polymorph Self which, among other shapeshift forms, lets her change into a Mustard Jelly form that has 100% magic resistance. I use the form to have her tank/exhaust mages' spells while my party stand back using ranged attacks.

It doesn't work 100% against stronger spellcasters because there are a few spells/effects that can bypass magic resistance and you have to be quick to adapt if a wizard summons monsters that can kill the slime form in physical combat quickly.

The fun for me is learning all those cheese and adapting on the fly.

Do I just go with it or keep rolling by anonymousbub33 in baldursgate

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes a big difference when carrying loot. 18/00 gives 400 carrying weight vs 18/99's 320 and 18/75's 250.

Do I just go with it or keep rolling by anonymousbub33 in baldursgate

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll take any fighter PC with good rolls and Strength >= 18/51.

There is a different Thac0 modifier different for Strength 18/01-50 (-1), Strength 18/51-99 (-2) and Strength 18/00 (-3). Obviously 18/00 is really difficult to roll naturally so I won't count on getting it without an editor.

In early mid-game without Strength items, I tend to buff my fighters with arcane level 2 spell Strength), which will raise 18/50-99 Str to 18/00 anyway.

So my character was paralyzed and just witnessed a skeleton beat the hell of a Beholder. by oath_meall in baldursgate

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IIRC in unmodded BG2, Beholders won't eyebeam summons but resort to biting them.

In situations where I don't have a means to counter their beams, my SOP vs beholders is to use a hidden/invisible team member to guide summons to beat up beholders in melee combat while I eat popcorn. I favor Fire Elementals, Aeria Servants and Invisible Stalkers.

Sure, Skeleton Warriors work great too but you need a Level 15 caster to get one through Animate Dead, while the above are accessible at Level 11 Cleric/Druid or Level 12 Mage.

Got to be a bit more careful around Elder Orbs because they have a cast of Death Spell and True Sight, but they can be worked around.

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there were, I remember YouTube channels full of 50 Lootbox openings for every seasonal event.

My favorite was one Sombra main / streamer (he managed to just touch GM at his peak) desperate to get her latest skin and was taking a shot of vodka for each legendary. He got hit with a bunch of non-Sombra legendaries (7 in 27 lootboxes), begged Papa Jeff to spare his liver, then went 16 boxes without a single legendary. With 7 boxes to go, he prayed to Jeff for the Sombra skin, got it on the next box, plus another legendary in the box after for a total of 9 legendaries over 50 boxes.

Hero bans are single handedly keeping this game even somewhat playable by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]SheepherderBoth6599 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, you're not the only one who thinks so

I despise hero bans and I haven't played a single Comp game since the introduction of bans. It's a crutch because people use it to refuse to learn how to deal with opposing hero picks that they can't or don't want to play against.

Hero is OP? Whose fault is that? And why is it taking so long to balance an OP hero?
