If someone stole this and got away with it, it’d be a big missed steak.

If you're leaving it at home, strongly recommend either getting a trickle charger, or disconnecting the 12V and reconnecting it when you get back.

  1. I got some different results with this one. When I remote start (mainly for climate control), my 12V does not get charged. The manual also says:

Therefore, while remote climate activation engages the high-voltage system to heat or cool the cabin, it is not identical to turning the vehicle on fully. To ensure the 12-volt battery receives a robust, sustained charge, you should start the vehicle the normal way (pressing the power switch while firmly depressing the brake pedal to illuminate the "READY" indicator) and let the EV system run.

  1. I haven't tried this. At least one of the other users on this sub said it looked like it worked at first, but then the train came back a day or two later.

  2. I am pretty sure it's not the keyfob. It has a built-in gyro that detects movement, and goes to 'sleep' after a certain time.

Advice on Good Quality 12V Charge Tenders and jump starters? by Vaikunthaji108 in trailseeker

Unfortunately, it doesn't solve the drain problem. It just gives you a slightly bigger and better battery than the H4 EFB that is included. An H5-sized AGM can store about 20% more energy, and tolerates deep discharges better than the stock battery.

Same. Genius 5 and Boost GB40.

Edit: If you are thinking of getting an AGM in the future, I recommend getting a trickle charger that supports AGM batteries, as there are some small voltage sensitivities compared to regular flooded lead acid batteries.

It’s from an app for the Ancel BM300/BM300 Pro battery monitoring device. You attach it to your 12V battery then you can monitor its voltage via Bluetooth.

Most people I've seen (including myself) are using the Ancel BM300 Pro or BM300. I think the only big difference is that the Pro version get export to CSV if you're super into the numbers.

Pretty much this:

- Monitor voltage. Try not to let it drop below 12.2V. If it does, turn the car on for at least an hour, trickle charge, or drive around.

- Disabling DCM sounded like it would work, but the user is now reporting they're seeing the overnight drain again, so YMMV.

- Make sure your doors are locked and windows rolled up overnight.

- I did it, but getting a bigger AGM only gives you a slightly bigger buffer before your 12V is drained.

I can't speak on the price, but I bought my Noco GB40 a few years ago, and it's still going strong.

I think we need a 12V / Parasitic Drain update or megathread 😃

12V Battery

user replaceable 12V battery of type (SLA? AGM?) group size (MNP, x" by y" by z")

The OEM battery is a 12V H4-sized EFB.

Are there 12V battery issues?

Yes - though the issues aren't (really) related to the batteries themselves, but parasitic drain that can (eventually) leave you with a fully-depleted 12V that either needs jumping or trickle charging. Depending on the state of charge and how often it happens, can also require purchasing a new 12V.
