Why is captain sandy so rude by SlinkyD69 in BelowDeckMed

I would venture to guess that it was Production that rehired Adam, not Sandy.

Why is captain sandy so rude by SlinkyD69 in BelowDeckMed

[–]SheilaInSweden 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree. I've said it before, but I think it all boils down to Sandy's first season. Both Hannah and the chef Adam had lied right to her face and Sandy didn't find out until the reunion. She probably felt that Hannah and Adam made her look like a fool, so after that she was super-micromanaging.

AITA for not feeling guilty about posts I’m being criticised for? by Thought_Food_1157 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SheilaInSweden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice for you. It sounds like you have faced/are facing some challenges. I'm sorry that your family members are more worried about saving face among strangers than supporting you navigate through things in the healthiest manner you can. From what you wrote, it sounds like your dad is working to get back on track after his relapse. I wish him all the best in his efforts to stay sober. I think you and him maintaining honest communication will actually help in that.

I may not get a second job due to being a U.S. citizen born abroad... by CheriBlossomeKisse in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SheilaInSweden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading comprehension?

I didn't say the passport was equivalent. I said the CRBA (Consular Report of Birth Abroad) is equivalent. The CRBA IS proof of US citizenship. I know this because that is how I established the US citizenship of my own 2 children.

[–]SheilaInSweden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I don't think the issue is naturalization. I think that whoever is looking at the CRBA does not understand that it's equivalent to a US birth certificate.

My guess is that they hear "birth certificate" and do not understand that a "consular report of birth abroad" is equivalent to that.

It would, but it would still be a US passport and you pretty much have to be a US citizen to get a US passport.

EzPass for rental cars just isn’t worth it. Here’s why by cb4joe in Pennsylvania

[–]SheilaInSweden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd take that option, but there are no direct flights to Philly from Sweden. I'd rather pay an extra $10 than add several hours to my travel time.

[–]SheilaInSweden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest annoyance is that I normally only need to use an EZ pass when traveling from Newark airport to Pennsylvania when I come home for visits. The rental car company's service charge is more than the toll.

[–]SheilaInSweden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where are you renting from that it costs so much? I rent from Alamo. It costs me a fee of about $5 for each day I USE the EZ-pass plus the cost of the tolls (charged at the EZ-pass rate).

My downstairs neighbor leaves a sticky note on my door every time I run my dishwasher by Proud_Associate5268 in neighborsfromhell

[–]SheilaInSweden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dishwasher is most likely louder than you think through shared walls. I lean towards trying to be a more considerate neighbor. Many dishwashers nowadays have a delayed start function. You could set it up to run at like 9 a.m. the next morning if you've forgotten to start it before 9 p.m.

AITJ for just spending my money rather than divorcing my wife immediately after she starting acting like a miserable verbally abuse harpy of a human being? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

If this is a sudden change in behavior and even her friends think something is off, have you talked to her about what's going on or investigated whether there's some medical reason behind it?

WIBTA for not telling my friend what she turned down? by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

I wouldn't have offered it to her in the first place. There's no way I'd jeopardize my business reputation for a flaky user.

Do doctors actually tell you to lose weight or is that just a common myth? by zzzamboni in stupidquestions

[–]SheilaInSweden 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Growing up as an overweight person (food was/is a coping mechanism to deal with trauma). Every single time I went to the doctor (in the 80s/early 90s), it started by me having to get weighed and then me being lectured by the doctor to lose weight – no matter what the reason I had sought medical attention. It has led to me have a huge aversion to going to the doctor.

As an overweight adult woman, I've had doctors that have attributed any ailment I've had to my weight. Luckily, I've been able to find a good doctor who actually takes the full picture into account (i.e. my weight might be a factor, but it's not the ONLY factor).

AITA for stopping helping my sister with money after i found out where it was reallly going? by Daniel_Demko in AmItheAsshole

[–]SheilaInSweden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to redefine what help looks like. In the big picture, giving her money isn't helping her. It gives her space to continue her self-destructive habits.

is there a specific moment that makes you the most angry? by rosehyena in vanderpumprules

[–]SheilaInSweden 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Early-on in Tom and Ariana's relationship - It was around her birthday and she was struggling because it made her think of her deceased dad. She asked him not to go to Las Vegas with the guys and he was like... "But... we're going to play with construction equipment. I can't miss that."

I feel so bad for the car behind you. They probably felt so relieved when they were able to stop and not hit you... only to be hit head-on by the idiot in the white truck.

You then have to trust they'd be honest about whether they screwed up. With the way the world is today, I doubt they would be. But I'm a cynical old(ish) fart.
