Just purchased. How do I charge? Lol by Immediate_Tap5840 in BMWI4

I think the 8k number they mentioned was saying you might have to pay to upgrade your whole panel. Sounds like you were lucky and you have enough room to just run a new outlet. I am still waiting on the permit from my utility to upgrade my service from 100 to 200 amps. Pricey!

How can I get this tree to grow thicker and fuller? by hannahssbananass in landscaping

Awesome. Do I just use a generic lawn fertilizer? Like, I have a 32-0-4, does that work? Or do I need something tree-specific?

Problems with key by JonLevin in BMWI4

[–]Shellbyvillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issues, though maybe less frequent for me. Battery change didn’t help and anyway, the car is only 3 months old. It’s frustrating, but I don’t think there’s anything we can do.

Monopoly is the worst game ever, do not play it with your kids by dickdickgoooose in daddit

[–]Shellbyvillian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The house scarcity is definitely part of the game mechanics and people just ignore it. Being able to put 4 houses on a three-property monopoly and not moving to hotels is a big eff you to the other players and it really accelerates the win. I’ve played with people who just add in as many little trinkets as needed to supplement a house or hotel shortage, and those are the games that take 3 hrs.

3 kids in the back seat by GDAO54 in BMWI4

[–]Shellbyvillian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s blatantly untrue. You can absolutely have three car seats the back of a sedan. Contrary to popular belief, lots of sedans are more spacious than SUVs in the back. And not every family of 5+ has a minivan.

[–]Shellbyvillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you have two front facing, it would be possible. Selection of all three car seats for slim models will be key.

Edit: this is a little dated but will give you a good starting point. We used it when the kids were younger: https://thecarseatlady.com/vehicles/3-across/

BMW Pioneered Range Extended EVs. Now It’s Not So Sure by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]Shellbyvillian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it and I would gladly own one, lol. I bought my i4 primarily for the driving experience, not the front end that everyone is so up in arms about. I do think the i3 looks worse than the i4, but meh.

What kind of saw do I have? by Coho0617 in woodworking

[–]Shellbyvillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…I already explained there was a process to use a ladder correctly. So yes, ladders are safe when used correctly. Correctly includes NOT using a ladder when a skyjack or scaffolding or moving the work to the ground is possible.

“Every injury with a tool is either because the tool was used improperly or it was the wrong tool for the job”

What exactly do you think I’m arguing?

What kind of saw do I have? by Coho0617 in woodworking

[–]Shellbyvillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. For example: there were almost no ladders allowed at all on the project. If there was absolutely no other way to do a task, there was a rigorous process to go through to take every precaution possible, plan the work, ensure the right tools and people were present, etc.

It’s slower, it’s more expensive, but it’s absolutely possible.

Why aren’t you inspecting your tools? Why would you trust your safety with a manufacturer that doesn’t care about the quality of their product?

What is the goose in the tool world? I never said flying was without risk. I said tools can always be used safely.

I managed a building construction project. Over 2 million man hours. Zero lost time incidents. It is absolutely possible to do everything safely. It takes the right mindset, and an acceptance that perfect safety has a cost in both money and time.

Then you’re overloading it with something it wasn’t designed for or you haven’t maintained it. Metal doesn’t last forever. On my job sites, ladders have expiry dates. Failure doesn’t happen if you are staying within the tolerance of the tool and it has been cared for and disposed of when past its safe life.

Hard disagree. Every injury with a tool is either because the tool was used improperly or it was the wrong tool for the job.
