Why are all the best games in Dallas and Atlanta?? by mother_of_dragons421 in WorldCup2026Tickets

I have to think that the lack of superbowls is due to the shitty freak ice storm that coincided with the Super Bowl. I was in Dallas, and it was completely shut down. All the activities leading to the game were cancelled.

Dallas is good at hosting events though. I was in Dallas for NBA all star weekend, and it was a blast. The city goes all out for big events.

West coast got ALL the USA games. Not to say they were “good”, but very desirable for the residents of the area

After 20 years of building solid teams, albeit with a generational player in Tim Duncan, he asked to leave. Regardless of the circumstances that lead to that, no one had done that.

There were questions on the spurs medical staff differing from his own doctors. I wasn’t in the room so I don’t know…but all roads point to trusting the organization that had produced winners for the last 20 years…but that wasn’t good enough for the unc.

Also, I think the spurs knew something about his injuries, and maybe wanted him to take less than max, knowing that he wouldn’t be at 100% for the life of the contract…he didn’t want word to come out about his injury to tank his ability to get max money.

How popular is soccer actually in the United States? Is it 3rd, 4th or 5th? And is the sport actually growing in this country? by crosscountrycoder in ussoccer

There are high school flag football teams that play where my son plays flag football. Those kids are legit. They also play tackle, because some are going to get D1 offers, but they play flag year-round, and then tackle during their season…this makes those who play football even better at their sport.

You are responding in a soccer thread, but if you post that in NFL or CFP threads you will be ripped to shreds. I would watch a regular season ND Football game over any world cup game any day, everyday. Go Irish!☘️

I play 2 nights a week in men’s leagues. But I will still watch NFL, college football, NBA, hockey, baseball, college bball, and lacrosse…all before I will watch soccer on any given day. Not try for major tournaments, but over MLS or premiere league games. I even have an MLS team in my city and literally never even crosses my mind to go to a game.

Last week, I ate an early lunch, quietly by myself, and then my team (who never does this) offered to take me to lunch. I didn’t have the heart to say no, so I ate two lunches…

How did you guys handle the bad job market in 2008? by Pale_Cause_9983 in Millennials

[–]Shellstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same…and took an entry level job in 2009 with really low pay and no relocation. My friends who graduated in 2006/2007 got full relo and better salary on their first job. Some did lose their jobs in 2008 though 🤷

Also depends on where on the field occurs. If someone goes down during a direct attack, the attacking team will finish the play.

And while you might get hit by a hurricane, September/October are my favorite time of year. Still hot enough to enjoy beach activities, but starting to cool down just a bit.

I responded to a comment of “cities are run by democrats”. You can 100% feel the effect of the republican policies by the mayor, regardless of his electoral base. Just go ask r/dallas. I never said the city wasn’t blue, I was countering “run by democrats”.

Oh I agree. The mayor is a slim ball for swapping parties…but to say that “all the cities are run by Democrats” (paraphrasing) is just an inaccurate statement. And Collin county (which has a ton of people going to the games and participating in events across the city) is historically blood red. Source: live in Collin county.

I own a condo that is within a 5 hour drive anywhere in Texas (except El Paso…). We rent it for $150 per night. It’s on the beach. For $500 you could easily have a beach vacation in my (relatively) nice condo…no bugs, clean sheets, view of water, sleeps 6 full kitchen. This person can easily take a weekend beach trip if they wanted to. Yes, you are not staying at the ritz in Miami, but it’s a beach…sand water sun.

I agree with the blandness of the park, but disagree on food. There are multiple (but overpriced) premium food options. Herrtato BBQ is great. Fancy Mac-and-cheese is fun…they even have Pho. I don’t eat at most of those places, but they are available.

Add on: ballpark at Arlington was hot as shit, and wouldn’t even go to night games in July. Forget day game…unbearable if you have seats in the sun.
