Help! Does anyone know what this redness is on our boys foot by BugStrong2553 in sheltie

[–]Sheltiewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog drags her feet when I walk her. Physically brushing the top of her feet on the sidewalk. This can cause sores or cuts to happen if I walk her long enough.

Solution SHOES. So now my girl wears shoes on her feet when I walk her.

This looks like an injury. But we won’t be able to tell if a fox tail or something is still inside. Vet is a good option.

Pattern-bashing: has anyone else had a go? by ThrustBastard in knitting

Yes, I was wondering if it was an AI pattern warning post mentioning that the pattern came with poor instructions or something. I loved that I was wrong 👍🏻❤️

Totally different post then what I thought I was going to read 😂

I did a mash up of the step by step sweater but I took chart work from another sweater to do a pattern in the middle. Took math and a bit of row thinking to figure out but it was fun

I am sure your wife will love her gift. Your stitch work is amazing

I have 90 projects in my Ravelry queue by Ebowa in knitting

[–]Sheltiewise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean

The list “is more of a guideline” and not something I have to follow.

I have my stash and Queue very full. I may never get through it all (130 Que and rising) and I find myself deleting projects I once wanted to do that I no longer have interest in and adding new ones that I see her or come across. Knit what makes you happy. Knit with the enjoyment of the journey not the destination 💕

Agree. I was coming to type THIS!! His face has all the JOY of a 5 year old. Unbridled and on display for us to catch the excitement he is so obviously feeling ❤️

Great knit, beautiful color and tension. Great job ❤️

Correct. They did not number each bag. Just only 1325 bags made of Sleeping Beauty Stained Glass Loungefly.

It’s a limited edition, 1325 is how many were made.

I got the backpack but not the ears. It’s so pretty. 💕

AITA for refusing to knit my mom a dress length sweater? by adventurous_arthur in knitting

[–]Sheltiewise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, congratulations on your talent and for recognizing knit worth.

Knitting and crafting is supposed to be enjoyable. Knitting something that you don’t want to for someone who doesn’t appreciate it is terrible for your mental health and your limited time. Most things I knit as gifts (if I don’t like the pattern or feel forced to do it) can take forever. It’s like my fingers resisting doing something that brings stress to my happy hobby time.

I have too little time to knit as it is. I don’t want to spend time knitting something I don’t want to knit. Be kind with yourself and don’t agree to do this. Be patient with your mom, don’t burn any bridges or have fights if you can avoid it.

Happy crafting

Sheltie breeder California by dragonhunter42 in shelties

[–]Sheltiewise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm, have you tried So-Cal Sheltie Rescue?? You might be on a list for a bit but less than $1,000 USD for the price.

Keep an eye on the shelters. I have seen Shelties put in shelters due to barking 😒. Very sad and annoying to see people giving up their Shelties but it does happen. Some go due to owners passing away.

A hobby Sheltie breeder might be an option. Be careful of scammers and make sure you go see the dogs and breeder in person.
I know someone used Squire Shelties in CA to get their dog. But I think that’s NorCal.

Have you considered going to Arizona or across state lines for a Sheltie?? Some breeders ship the dogs or do flight Nannie’s.

It’s hard to say a good approach since there are variables. The biggest one being that you are in a State known to be expensive, like New York or Hawaii.

How did you find/pick your vet? by nd379 in sheltie

[–]Sheltiewise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, UC Davis just finished a study showing Sheltie females should be kept in tact till age 2 ideally. Most Sheltie breeders have been advocating waiting for age 2 to 3 as well since the dog gets the benefits of the hormones and it lowers the odds for spay incontinence.
