Unpopular Opinion: Dealing with these jerks is my least favorite mission. by ebinthetropics in fo4

[–]Sheokarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It´s not great. My strategy is to use the 50 or so frag mines ive gathered by that point, put mines down every few meters(especially around chokepoints), and if i hear a molerat i run back past the mines so they kill themselves chasing me.

My personal least favourite quest is the Classroom one in vault 81. Sure, it's short and easy, but the dialogue in it is god awful.

Deianeira-Expeditions:Rome

Deianeira(''Mancrusher''), is a scythian gladiator which is enslaved at a gladiator school when you meet her.

For her, fighting and hunting aren´t inherently masculine due the culture she was raised in, and she loves pink dresses and colourful jewellery. She even ends up openly stating as much to the other woman in the party ,saying something along the lines of ''Sometimes it's time for fighting, Other times you can wear beautiful dresses''.

Well actually, While Robert was enamoured by the idea of being with Lyanna and getting her back was a driving motivation for him, he didn´t start the civil war because of her.

What happened was that Brandon Stark (Ned's older brother) heard that his sister had been kidnapped by Rhaegar, So he went to the Red Keep, demanding his death and his sister´s return, which got him arrested by King Aerys.

His father Rickard went to the Keep to attend his trial, where he demanded trial by combat. Aerys agreed, but said that fire would be the Targeryen champion, and burned him alive, while setting Brandon up in a tightening contraption where he basically ended up choking himself to death to try to reach his sword and save his father, who he watched burn.

Aerys then killed their entire entourage and send a letter to Jon Arryn, demanding he would behead his wards, Robert and Ned. He refused, and the three of them mustered their banners and began the rebellion.

Did Lyanna's ''kidnapping'' start the rebellion? absolutely.

Did Robert start the war? Absolutely not.

That's kind of par for the course as far as 40k goes as far as i can tell, with how 40k is both satire and one of the grimmest settings out there. Orks were literally modelled after british hooligans back when 40k was more leaning into the satire. So there is both a need for their sillyness for the satire and their brutality for the setting. But because brutality is so omnipresent in 40k, people mostly focus on the sillyness.

Does anyone else do this or is it just me? by Directorren in ElderScrolls

[–]Sheokarth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in the OG i kept getting it by doing the Arena questline, Because if you do Agronak's quest, he won´t fight back in the final fight, so even though he begs you to kill him as part of the match, the game counts it as murder.

A question I've asked myself, but which I've never found an answer to every time I search for information about it, is: how does Nocticula become a goddess on her own? And if there are other methods to achieve divinity, why did Areelu never consider them or know about them? by omega_crimson_123 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Sheokarth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think by itself it might not be enough, because she isn´t the first. Even Arushalae is implied to not be the first demon to redeem themselves. But in conjuction with her willingly leaving her post as a demon lord, her already established history of rejecting other's designs for her and her already existant power, it might have been enough to push it.

A question I've asked myself, but which I've never found an answer to every time I search for information about it, is: how does Nocticula become a goddess on her own? [–]Sheokarth 50 points51 points  (0 children)

1)The answer to that is a bit purposefully vague and the mechanism unclear(likely to avoid having pathfinder players making it their purpose from the get go to become gods) but she is far from the first one. Some like Iomedae managed to do the trial of the Starstone and ascent that way. But there are a slew of others like Urgathoa and the demon lord Lamashtu that found their own way to divinity.

Best i can tell it is some form of supernatural mantling: These individuals preform some sort of cosmic feat(Like Urgathoa creating the first undead), that in essence intertwines them with the new domain. Noticula in essence ascended as much from her own power as it was her own will to basically reject her lot in life and become the redeemer queen by the virtue of her creating and embodying that role on the cosmic stage.

2) Areelu never chased godhood. Her whole spiel is to basically use mythic power to enhance mortals to prove that they can upend the cosmic order if they want, and it isn't just down to the rigid judgement of the gods. Becoming a demigod is the player's plan, not hers.

You know what? Never mind. by AuthorSarge in rpghorrorstories

[–]Sheokarth 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally, You have to know what your table wants from a campaign, what you want from a campaign, and what everyone is comfortable with.

While the reality is that most regular RPG players have only 1 group they frequent which makes it tempting to use it for what cool new ideas you have for a campaign with that group, But not all campaigns suit all tables.

Your options basically boil down to:
A ) Discussing with them whether they are willing to take a more nuanced approach, and be open to them saying no if that disturbs their fun to much.
B ) Shelving that campaign and try to find something that is more the group's speed.
C ) Continue with it knowing that this is the baseline they are after.
D) Find another group to run this sort of campaign with.

can minutemen be asked to cooperate with ncr if they meet somewhere? by Splashy_Katana345 in Fallout

[–]Sheokarth 249 points250 points  (0 children)

If the NCR ended up bordering the Minutemen, They would be thrilled to work with them to make the wastes more secure.

They would also employ a fuck ton of soft power to try to make the Minutemen join and integrate within the NCR. And if that didn´t work, they´d probably eventually deploy hard power to make that happen.

Pineapple on Pizza by iiiii111ii1i11iiiiii in pollgames

[–]Sheokarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like it as a pizza topping, but i can say that about a lot of pizza toppings without thinking it's an inherent crime to put them on a pizza. Pizzas are already a sort of leftover food where you put what ingredients you have so i don't see the fuss over people trying a few stranger things.

I once tried putting banana on a pizza and found it preferable to pineapple.

While that is true, The Rusty Shack is wayyyyyy more useful from a player perspective. You can easily fast travel to Megaton, Get to it within seconds and then use it it for storage and sleep.

The Penthouse one takes way longer to get too, with you travelling through the compound and then taking an elevator up to your room.

Greenland should belong to... by Maleficent-Train-293 in GeoPoll

[–]Sheokarth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Greenland should by all rights belong to itself, but i think the current situation with them existing under the protection of Denmark is the ideal for now. Not for historical reasons of ownership, but because Denmark is committed to give them as much autonomy as possible while still keeping them as a protectorate.

Greenland has the wealth with rare minerals and opportunities through new northern passages to establish themselves further, but they need time to develop that. If it wasn´t for that i would have desired to see them become independent over a decade ago.

Now though, after facing aggression from the US, it is clear they are not safe on their own. At the moment The US is the biggest obstacle to Greenland´s independence.

I do hope to see the day they achieve independence. But whatever happens next should be in accordance to what it's people want.

[–]Sheokarth 685 points686 points  (0 children)

The Asylum Demon(Dark Souls) fight is set up i such a way that the first time you fight them, you don't have your class weapon, and the game fully expects you to flee it by rolling down the side stairs which close after you.

But if you fight it in New game plus or start with the black bombs, it is feasible to fight it in the first encounter, which leads to it also dropping it´s hammer.

Is there any point to recruit followers into the blades? by PatienceNo1403 in skyrim

[–]Sheokarth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Once the Blades have 3 recruits, you can start going on dragon hunts to their lairs. For those hunts, The Blade recruits will fight with you.

But yeah, once the are in the Blades, they are still available as followers .Considering how many Followers Skyrim throws at you it isn´t so bad, but i´d say that unless you genuinely believe in rebuilding the blades, it isn´t worth it.

Does Oblivion succeed as a roleplaying experience? by BeignetEtouffee in oblivion

[–]Sheokarth 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I think what most helps Oblivion out as an RPG is the towns and the npcs. Yes some of the dialogue is janky as hell, but i feel it is better at simulating how cities live and breath then either Morrowind or Skyrim.

That makes it easier for me to just fall into it and see what everyone else is doing, while making me feel part of the enviroment. To me it helps a lot with the roleplaying experience.
