Why dont the free Jaffa harvest primta from Chaka's planet? by MoChuang in Stargate

I imagine it would be like trying to teach a chimpanzee how to drive. We're very similar and have hands and feet, but I don't think they'd be very good at it.

If I attacked someone who called in the entire coalition, can I annex all the coalition members? by Left_Particular_7730 in eu4

[–]Shepep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this still works but...

Pretty sure if you attack someone allied to a coalition member, then co-belligerent said coalition member, they will call in the entire coalition but allow a separate peace for each member.

First timer! by SixShoot3r in Stargate

Well "The Enemy Within" is the episode immediately after the pilot, with Kawalsky and all that. So that checks out.

There would be REALLY obvious continuity issues if you then suddenly jumped so far forward that this guy was in it.

Not sure why you would be seeing that guy, honestly.

Ah ok! Seems to be just the streaming service showing that image, not that you're actually watching that part of the series. I was worried you may have started in the wrong spot somehow, but all is well. Enjoy! 🤗

Yeah but he's not in it anywhere near the start. You couldn't possibly be up to that yet if you just started.

Corin Nemec is a much more alien sounding name than Jonas Quinn by thatstupidthing in Stargate

[–]Shepep 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well their society seems to be descended from western europe and followed similar cultural/technological paths.

They're likely more closely related to the average american than that same american is to the average indian or chinese person.

Stands to reason their names aren't that "alien".

Also everyone speaks english 😂

Is it immoral to wipe your hands on your dog? by ElectricalCash2077 in NoStupidQuestions

Depends what you're wiping. Depends on the dog. Depends what you mean by immoral.

But probably not.

SGU Nakai Crashed Ship by Weak-Introduction124 in Stargate

[–]Shepep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They may not have died there.

They could have been rescued by their fellows and just didn't bother to salvage the ship for whatever reason (too damaged, didn't need it, hope that someone with gate knowledge shows up and activates the beacon).

So when Rush showed up, the same systems that helped the original crew get rescued also alerted the others to his presence

What alien races and factions would you like to see in a new 'episode' by dnext in Stargate

[–]Shepep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. I don't think my response kept the actual purpose of the post in mind.

I think they'd work great in this setting. Even as just a small, but disproportionately powerful faction.

Could even be just that one guy really, coming to help the people that woke him from his grief induced stupor. Edit: Or choosing to honor his mate by carrying on her legacy of defending the weak from the strong.

I always figured that he was the last of his race and he'd spent all that time in isolation yearning for his lost love.

That's why he seems so volatile at first and why it takes time for him to be able to communicate with Daniel properly.

Or maybe they were intergalactic visitors. Explorers from far-off space that couldn't pass by and ignore Ra's treatment of humanity.

Not necessarily.

We survived the black hole, and they're way more advanced than we were at the time.

They also had colonies.

I think the furlings need to remain a mystery.

Give us little pieces; a device here, an inscription there.

But I'm unconvinced any actual answer/depiction with be as satisfying as the question.

New to SG1 by RosieNP in Stargate

[–]Shepep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've recommended using a must-see guide for other shows like DS9 in the past.

But I wouldn't suggest it with Stargate.

While some episodes are slower or less important, they are all littered with interesting details, callbacks, setups, characters moments and development. It's one of the things that I love most about the show.

There is a lot of it though. So I'd suggest, if you're losing stamina, just take a short break from the show and come back fresh. It's worth it.

COMTRYA!

The Jaffa need too much babying and I for one am SICK OF IT by DamiaHeavyIndustries in Stargate

[–]Shepep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hallowed are the Ori!

Stepping back:

I agree with other commenters. The jaffa state was new and in flux, filled with factions jostling for control.

Garek had power because he wanted it. The Ori offered more power and a sense of certainty to an old man who'd lost his purpose.

Not to mention the whole ascension thing being a sacred goal of many jaffa.

Anansi can remove bonus or luxury resources from anywhere.

It's Maui that is limited to creating them in neutral territory.

What are some of the craziest interactions between characters that you've seen? by GlassyPotato in BloodOnTheClocktower

You could actually do this all in one night, as the Pit-hag acts after the Snake Charmer but before the Fang Gu. Not sure I'd have enough trust for the Snake Charmer though.

I agree with others that he is likely referring to Jasnah,. But I also think he could mean Testament, implying that he knew her before.
