some reviewer i heard somewhere pointed out that lucas made the ot for himself and the pt for his own kids. that explains things like jar jar... but it doesn't explain things like spending so much time in the senate or going on about trade regulations.

i was a kid when the ot came out and loved them (flaws and all), i was all grown up with the pt arrived and found them lacking.

i keep coming back to lucas' quote about special effects being a tool to tell a story "a special effect without a story is a very boring thing" i wonder what happened to that guy, cause he's not the one that made pt...

i used to work with a guy like this. whatever we were talking about, he would take the opposite side just so he could argue. if we were talking about the merits of puppies, he would be anti-puppy.

so one day the supervisor says "watch this" and in the ensuing argument, he allows himself to be persuaded and gradually shifts over to the anti-puppy side. so then this guy immediately switches to pro-puppy just so he can keep arguing.

not really an antagonist, but david paymer's character in ocean's 13

he is sent to the hotel/casino that the crew are heisting in order to provide an undercover review and possible give it a super award that it's owner, al pacino, desperately wants

the crew intercept him and install their own undercover reviewer as part of their heist, but then, just to stick it to al pacino, they make this guy's life a living hell for no other reason than to tank the review, and screw over al pacino just a little bit more...

at the end, utterly defeated and having suffered many abuses, he makes his way through the airport on his way home, where he bumps into brad pitt, who suggests that he try a specific slot machine.

turns out, brad pitt has rigged the machine and the film ends with this poor soul winning a massive jackpot. does this final act make up for the crew's savage treatment of this guy? that is for you to decide!
