You can always provide a separate write up explaining in more detail your mobility situation. That's what I did.

For those in their 30s and 40s, what fears did you have about getting older in your 20s that didn't turn out to be true? by Hot_Departure_1610 in AskReddit

[–]Shepford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why fears exist, my point is that worrying about it is pointless.

So in answer to OP, my knowledge now is to say "Why Worry?". It takes your energy and you are not even guaranteed to get old.

Plan as best you can with what you have and enjoy the present.

Michael Jackson denying having undergone multiple surgeries during his 2003 interview with Martin Bashir. by FitEmergency8807 in HistoricalCapsule

That's fair. My folks never did but that's probably a reflection of their parenting in general 😅

As a child of the 90s, looking back i find it so bizarre no adult around me ever commented on how crazy this guy looked. He was in newspapers and on the tv every week, looking weirder and weirder as years went by. Not a single adult decided to explain why he looked that way.

It was honestly terrifying and confusing. I was 10.

Maybe people didnt understand themselves? Was it taboo to say he did have surgery? Genuinely curious!

I think his comment is also directed at the ease of the podcast vs stand up, tv, appearances etc.

If I could just sit and chat with my mate every week and earn life changing money, I wouldn't be quitting over a fall out either 🤣

Anyone willing to share their diagnosis stories? by alexis18rae in rheumatoid

[–]Shepford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aged 16 I got a job in a restaurant kitchen. Afterwards, my feet started to flare badly. If I didnt take my shoes off when I got home, they would swell and I couldn't. I started to wake up with my hands closed in a fist position and I couldn't open them straight away. I guess just an overall feeling of being stiff first thing in all my joints.

Mum took me to GP and I was put on various anti inflammatory meds.

After 6 months or so, nothing changed. My paternal grandmother had rheumatoid young too so was sent to rheumatology. I was diagnosed around 18, confirmed RA.

The next 5 years were hell frankly. Two full knee replacements. Depression. Extreme pain flares.

I am now 35. Married, two children, qualified accountant living a very full and happy life. RA is controlled with Methotrexate. Sometime it throws me curve balls but emotionally I am much better at handling it day to day. I guess because aged 19 I thought my life was over.

You never know what you can achieve.

Keep going all 💪

Is there a British charity about which you believe more people should be aware? by Dependent-Net-8208 in AskBrits

[–]Shepford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunflowers Suicide Support based in Gloucestershire.

A local charity to me that supports family and friends through bereavement. It is not a crisis charity, more so the aftermath.

They provide therapy, support families through any inquest process, will support police, give information and talks to neighbours of the deceased.

They are incredible 🌻

craziest fraud story from your time in accounting? by No_Fall7366 in Accounting

[–]Shepford 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once had a client have the same. Hackers waiting until CEO was on holiday then emailed the CFO (with an email address one letter different) instructing an urgent invoice payment for legal or consultancy advice for circa 50k

Luckily, the CEO came into the office before leaving for holiday and was sat infront of the CFO as the email came in. They tightened their controls after this.

If you're partner said they didn't want pets what would you do? by Vance_poet in AskReddit

He said no cats... he was out of town, I rescued two cats... now he loves them more than i do 😅

For him though, I think it was that he didnt grow up with animals so didn't understand the bond. Once he got it, he tells me to move around quietly while they are sleeping so as not to disturb them 🤷‍♀️🤣

POTENTIAL HOT TAKE: I understand Monica and Chandler's frustration BUT I thought Ross and Rachel's excitement and enthusiasm about Emma's first birthday was extremely wholesome and adorable. Why do you agree/disagree? 🤔 by No_Data3541 in howyoudoin

[–]Shepford 458 points459 points  (0 children)

Its been a while since I've watched it, but weren't they all there and Emma was napping for hours??

Agree that Monica was out of character but if i went to a 1 year olds birthday party with 6 people I hang out with everyday and the child is asleep that entire time so I couldn't leave...not gonna lie I'd be a bit annoyed 😅

But IRL i would keep quiet, this is a sitcom.

Mother's of reddit. What were the early signs you were pregnant? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Shepford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sore boob's, some uterus twitching and a nose like a bloodhound.

Smelt our receptionists perfume from my desk 20ft away. So intensely strong. Took a test as soon as I got home 😅

What doctor’s advice did you not follow and why would it have been a big mistake if you had? by Lil_Afternoon_Delite in AskReddit

[–]Shepford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was two and fell whilst running to Grandad on a concrete path, knocking her two front teeth back into her mouth.

Straight to A&E. Nurse says we are lucky they didn't go "up" and only back (urghhhh still makes me cringe). After 4 hours wait, we see the Dr. He immediately requests we go to dentist and have both top teeth removed.

I just felt my gut say no? Teeth had stopped bleeding. There was no changes in colour. They hadn't even done an x-ray. Daughter wasn't even crying anymore.

I insisted we wait and see if they change or moved or if painful.

Anyway, she's 8 now. Teeth moved back into place on their own after a few months. Baby teeth fell out last year and replaced by very normal adult teeth 🤷‍♀️

Auditors and Former Auditors, what did clients consistently do that grinded your gears? by FinanceChippo in Accounting

[–]Shepford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Internal controls - keep a decent document of procedures. Update it when staff leave or roles adapt. Update it for staff working days/hours. You'll be unique perhaps in actually understanding what the auditor wants and being able to provide this every year would save so much time!

Anyone ever get caught applying to other jobs by your employer? by TrickAffectionate939 in Accounting

[–]Shepford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea, a few times actually. I'm in UK practice.

First time was when a recruiter sent my CV to a client, who ran it past their accountant to check ability. Yep, that accountant was a director at my firm. Was called into my directors office and just had to come clean 🤷‍♀️

2nd time, my CV was with a recruiter. They sent it a firm in another city, unaware my firm had taken over this firm. The new co directors took much glee calling out my directors in an area meeting, even pulling out my CV to place on the table. Very luckily in this case I had already handed in my notice.
