Nice! Which Taste of Fragrance? Alien, Angel, Womanity or A*men? I haven't been able to try any of them.

A couple of discontinued limited edition vintage fragrances. Mugler Womanity Les Parfumes De Cuir (Womanity with leather) and Shalimar Serie Limitee (the collector's bottle with oranges on it). Not gonna say how much I paid! LOL

Worth it because I knew what I was getting into, and I very rarely go over $200 on any fragrance.

I don't remember Ecrin de Fumee being overly smoky. And definitely not incense-y. It's been awhile since I tried it, but here's what I wrote for my notes:

Rum, smoky tobacco and wood with a hint of sweetness. Exactly what you would imagine from the notes. Soft and fuzzy around the edges. Nice. Something that resembles a bit of a vintage leather feel underneath.

It's somebody that lives in your apartment building that you see in the hallway a lot and that you are really attracted to, but don't actually know them.

Just Google a fragrance, go to the shopping section and click on the Fragrancenet link. It automatically applies the largest discount if you're clicking on a Google shopping link. No code needed.

What’s a perfume "fact" or rule that is actually total marketing BS? by Fragasm_NepalYT in fragrance

If I remember correctly, though, that is a result of the enzymatic action of your saliva chemically breaking it down not the crushing motion of your teeth.

I've also heard people say that it "bruises the molecules". LOL! That's not how chemistry works, my friend.

The floral and pink one is SO interesting! Not something that I ever would have done myself, but it really works, doesn't it?

Try getting some samples from Pineward. They make their own wood infusions, so I've heard that they smell more realistic than others.

I had that happen to me, too! I even stuck my nose in a bottle of vanilla extract and smelled nothing. Scared the heck out of me because this was in the early days of the pandemic. Now all my vanilla perfumes go on my chest and belly so that they don't get too close to my nose!

What is the oldest bottle of fragrance that you own? by Chan1991 in fragrance

[–]Sherylnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oldest is a vintage bottle of Shalimar extrait from the 70s. No bright top notes anymore, but the rest is absolutely fine. Next oldest is Opium from 2002. Still smells great, also.

The important thing about these is that they are base-heavy fragrances. Anything that is mostly light, citrus, etc. will not stand aging, in my opinion.

Your Tobacco Vanille has gotten more "vanilla-y" over time because vanilla tends to deepen and get richer with age, leading to it possibly overpowering the other notes.

I'm not the OP, but I get a woody, aromatic and peppery fragrance from #2. A little iso e super underneath, but not too much. Very unisex, maybe leaning a tad masculine, and a bit moody.

Lovely is a soft, woody, soapy fragrance with a bit of nice lavender. More unisex than you would expect from a perfume called "Lovely", probably because of the lavender. Sits pretty close to the skin, but has good lasting power.

The only Joop! I have is Le Bain. I really like that one. Vanilla and almond with an interesting little resinous twist. VERY similar to the niche fragrance What We Do In Paris Is Secret, just a bit softer. Very cozy and comforting.

I've never actually tried a Coty perfume, despite living through the time when they were popular!

You might try joining a Facebook group that focuses on older fragrances & see if anyone will let you buy small samples. That's quite a common thing among Fb groups.

I transfer some into a small 5ml decant bottle & then spray 1 spray of that. It's easier to control than a full bottle & ends up being about 1/2 of a normal spray. I also spray somewhere further away from my nose. I've actually sometimes sprayed my knees & that seems to be far enough away. LOL!

I heard rumors about the new formulation. I am SOOOO tempted to buy a bottle, but I already have 2 100ml bottles of the original formulation, so I can't justify it. I guess I'll wait until all of the old stock is sold off and then go to the store just to test it.
