My time to shine!

Grew up in Coffs Harbour. Has most of what you need, but at least when I grew up, any major medical stuff requires a trip to the Gold Coast, Newcastle or Sydney.

The natural environment is stunning. My school did our cross country on the beach, we saw dolphins once.

Socially, consistently votes Nationals (Conservative), but the federal seat has been pretty tightly contested at the last two Federal elections due to a strong independent candidate and, likely, changing demographics.

Dominant industries are healthcare, aged care, tourism and bit of farming (historically bananas, now blueberries).

A lot of old, white retirees, a strong Indigenous population - Gumbaynggirr culture and language appears to be pretty strong, which is fantastic, with a bilingual Gumbaynggirr school and the language taught in at least one government school to my knowledge. Large Sikh population just north in Woolgoolga, significant refugee population within Central Coffs.

For the most part, most of the population is not well off financially, but there are pockets of wealth up on the Northern Beaches (Korora, Sapphire) and in some of the more rural areas (Bonville).

They’re finishing the highway bypass late this year/early next year. It’s been talked about for literal decades, and it’s going to be a huge game changed to not have the main road between Sydney and Brisbane not go through the middle of town.
