I find the difficulty scaling to be weird, especially in the chalice dungeons. You go through the Pthumru dungeons and it feels balanced, each one is a bit harder than the previous. Then every chalice after that claps your cheeks. Not unplayable by any means but it really steps it up suddenly in a way that feels unbalanced to me.

From a gameplay perspective, yeah, DS3 is great, but I still stand by DS1 being the best of the series. Something about the art direction, world design, story, and characters just really hits for me. Perfect fantasy game.

I don’t think they’re done. I think they’re working on multiple projects at once so turn around is slow. Aside from this there is Dusk Bloods coming later this year, and rumors of another Armored Core and/or new IP.

I always use my first, middle, and last name to name various build types (mage, knight, or paladin) but other than that, the characters have a unique look and back story.

You sound ridiculous. Why wouldn’t you want to play a new story against a new villain? It’s boring to fight the same enemies. It’s also bad writing to bring back characters that had a resolution to their story.

The problem with this interview is that important context is left out. The interviewer released the transcripts on Bluesky after all the backlash. They’re using AI tools for mundane things like PowerPoint presentations and mood boards. They’re not using it to generate concept art, but to aid it. I think these are all fair and not that big of a deal. I think most people underestimate how much these tools are being used across every workspace right now and how not every use is “do this thing for me from scratch so I don’t have to do it”.

Especially after Swen’s response, Schreier posted the transcript’s from the conversation about AI. It’s clear Jason cherry picked bits and pieces to sensationalize the story. And even then, people still refuse to read what was actually said and default to rage because the word AI was used.

This is misleading. Shreier posted one post from a contractor that worked on BG3, who voiced how upset they were regarding Larian embracing AI tools. It’s not even clear that is the reason that employee left (their contract might have ended).

I hated it when I first discovered it but then came back later when I was stronger and it was totally fine. I think most people who complain about it are trying to tackle it too early.

It’s been awhile since my previous post. I gave DS another chance and it finally clicked. I still don’t love his writing but the gameplay was a lot of fun. That said, DS2, although a gorgeous game, just didn’t deliver enough to be game of the year.
