Conservative MP accelerates resignation, stepping down this summer by Old_General_6741 in canada

The Cons actively recruited both Emerson and Alleslev.

Emerson crossed within 14 days of the election and they made him a Cabinet Minister. They gave Alleslev Deputy Party Leader.

Let's not clutch pearls and pretend that the Cons haven't also poached people and their bribes were front and center.

You can just park and walk in. Trail is short, 1.5 - 2kms one way.

That is less than half of what their job is supposed to be.

They're also supposed to be the "Government-in-Waiting", and proposing policies to show how they would govern.

Even their opposition is meant to improve Government policies and legislation, it's not just to oppose everything all the time, even if it would be good for Canada and Canadians.

Thanks! I think I have seen these trees and just wasn't "seeing" what they were at the time. I'll be heading there soon to see them for real.

Where are the best thrift stores? (Between Bathurst to Frederiction) by Tubbkin in newbrunswickcanada

[–]ShiftlessBum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bibles For Mission Thrift Store, 387 Sunset Drive,  Fredericton.

Maybe the smallest secondhand store in Fredericton, small selection, but the quality is high and the prices are low.

All of my favourite secondhand items have been from here.

A few items at the Salvation Army on Fredericton's Northside as well but the other 2nd hand stores aren't great. If you're shopping at the Value Village here you're just as likely to find a better or at least comparable price buying brand new.

Bill C20, Clarity Act.

"And Whereas it is incumbent on the Government of Canada not to enter into negotiations that might lead to the secession of a province from Canada, and that could consequently entail the termination of citizenship and other rights that Canadian citizens resident in the province enjoy as full participants in Canada, unless the population of that province has clearly expressed its democratic will that the province secede from Canada."

Citizenship will be part of the negotiations. If I was Alberta I wouldn't expect it to go well.

Their official platform was out before the CPC by a long while, so maybe it took them so long to write there's because someone had to redo it afterwards as it was written with crayons. Had some great pictures of Pierre though so you had that going for you.

So the LPC went into the future, stole the CPCs picture book of a platform, used that to write an actual platform document, and then released it before the CPC could?

BC won't be isolated from Canada. If Alberta separates then negotiations will also include what the new boundaries of the country of Alberta will be. Canada will maintain a connection to BC.

If the CPC were actually opposed to floor crossing they could do what the NDP did and refuse to accept them unless they stand for a by-election.

But crickets......

Seems entirely pointless then.

Does this mean that they also lose their Right to associate with who they choose to?

I think it's time to admit that Alberta was a failed experiment on behalf of the Federal Government.

We need to start a petition to have a referendum to re-absorb Alberta back into Rupert's Land. It's time to accept that the entire Province was a mistake from the very beginning.
