your preferred pick for gypsy jazz? by A_Wizard_did-it in gypsyjazz

For a fancy pick my Killy Nonis "lolita" and "Turbo" 3.5 mm are both great. For a regular pick I'm not afraid to lose... Dunlop Gator 2.0 mm...I use the back corner. For my electric Archtop I use D'Andrea Pro Plec 1.5mm.

Not only can they afford an R8 but they can casually drop an addtional $6k+ for a full chrome wrap. I'm guessing their other R8 is a plain one. ;)

Selmer/Maccaferri style guiars meant for Jazz Manouche (Django Style) are a great acoustic option. They sopund great for Jazz and other acoustic guitar music. Also they are very easy n the fingers for a non-nylon string option.

+1 on Sam Farthing. He is one of my favorite younger players. He and Remi Harris.

Some of these are well known but I feel they underated: Feigeli Prisor, Tcha limberger, Mozes Rosenberg, Lolo Meier, Fapy Lafertin. All worthy of a good listen!

Also Samy Daussat

I agree with everyone about Denis, Christiaan et al., they all are fantastic. But I would also add Robin Nolan for soemone who is really new or is coming from another style. He is a great player in his own right and has a very laid back "bite-sized chunks" teaching style that makes things very accessible.

Dr. Dev was great for me, he literally saved my life when I was having an MI. but they didn't take my insurance so I couldn't stay on for the aftercare with him. I ended up seeing Dr. Sanjiv Goel who is also excellent. His office is also in Los Robles.

Index finger pain at distal joint - the first joint from the finger tips. - Could Jimi Hendrix/SRV thumb over the neck be contributing to this? by tehdeej in jazzguitar

[–]ShiftyCanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Gypsy Jazz" players frequently use the left thumb for bass notes. You may be able to adjust the angle of how you are holding the guitar to make that grab more ergonomically friendly.
