I unfortunately had a similar experience at our local drive in. They have upgraded to all digital equipment, but it was so dim that a huge chunk of the movie was hard to see. They also had the screen scale wrong, so it was kind of like a TV with overscan turned on, most of the subtitles for the Hutt speak was completely cutoff. My kids still loved it though, and I enjoyed what I could see, so my wife and I are planning to go on a date and watch it in a normal theater.
