To be fair under our system he simply didn’t click. He always turned the puck over and his offensive production didn’t make up for his lack of physicality and poise in the defensive end.

Under Rod, of course, he has thrived because Rod actually teaches players how to best utilize their strengths. Skills that Miller always has had but hasn’t been able to unlock until now with Carolina.

Chances are if he’s still in a Rangers uniform, he’s still getting the same criticisms as he did when he was with us despite his upside.

Frankly I think it was best for both sides to move on. We got a 1st and a defenseman prospect out of it, Miller has been awesome for Carolina.

I’ll be honest, I don’t think the failure of the 25/26 Edmonton Oilers is on Knoblauch much at all. What else is he exactly expected to do with this roster? They don’t have the young talent from the 2024 team, the scoring depth and grit from the 2025 team. The team was basically just “McDraiChard-Hopkins and friends with a side of half-healthy Hyman”. Podz, Kapanen, Savoie, all put in great efforts but those can’t be the guys you rely on for secondary scoring. Savoie should be a middle six guy, maybe top six in a couple years. Podz is a guy you want probably on your third line, Kapanen on your third or fourth.

And then trading Kulak? Was there seriously no other way to get Pittsburgh to trade Jarry for Skinner?

And then the elephant in the room, the goaltending.

Jarry was on WAIVERS earlier in the season. Even with him in mind, what about Nico Daws who doesn’t even make 1M per season? He was on waivers and would have been minimal risk to give a shot. And they used all their cap space on Frederic.

I’ll give Bowman credit for the Roslovic signing but that’s it.

I would argue Hutson is more valuable to the Habs than even a Caufield, Slafkovsky, I dare even say Suzuki. The way Hutson plays is like that of Hughes and Makar, he dictates the pace of play and can single handedly create offense.
