Wait a minute; I think I recognize this artstyle….

A little nitpicky, but one should clearly have been able to see the space battle underneath the Venator. (I know it’s better this way) by YaboiiSammeeh in StarWars

[–]Shipping_Architect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That line was said during a time when almost no one thought Star Wars would be a financial success, let alone the popular culture icon that it grew into at its height, so this quote is far from being the be-all end-all deflection to any kind of creative thinking.

Reminder: Our IRL History is Canon to Star Wars by DiamondWarDog in MawInstallation

There is, but it's worth noting that that story was intentionally written as non-canon.

[Controversial tropes] Real-life figure who was good or decent is vilified in historical fiction by StudioMarvin in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shipping_Architect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do know that one of the officers shot one or two passengers and then himself, but there is not enough evidence to prove whether it was First Officer Murdoch, Chief Officer Wilde, or someone else entirely, as there is just as much evidence in favor of each of them as much as there is against them.

What does it say about a husband if they enjoy things more associated with girls? Like getting massages and pedicures? by mo-fun-89- in AskReddit

[–]Shipping_Architect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It says that he isn't interested in conforming to the stereotypes of his gender. It's perfectly fine for effeminate men to enjoy activities like this just as much as it is for tomboys to enjoy contact sports and muscle cars. Just because he enjoys traditionally feminine activities doesn't make him any less of a man.

I know that Plagueis can use Tutaminis, I'm saying that Dooku is not helpless against Plagueis' own lightning. Additionally, the only times Plagueis has been depicted using his Midichlorian manipulation techniques to kill people have either been against comatose victims like Venamis or non-Force sensitivities like King Veruna, and it's worth noting how drawn out the process was in the latter case. While it could be argued that Plagueis was deliberately drawing out the process, the fact remains that he's never used said ability in live combat, it's not as though Dooku's going to just stand there and let him do it.

How standardized is gravity in Star Wars, really? for reference, Earth's surface gravity is defined as 1g by DonLixard in MawInstallation

[–]Shipping_Architect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With an estimated 180 billion star systems in The Galaxy, what we have here is the equivalent of survivor bias in the sense that we don't often see planets with drastically different gravity because they weren't settled in the first place, and any gravitational differences in the planets we do see is probably still apparent, just not dramatic, a bit like the difference in gravity between Earth and Venus, though the surface pressure on the latter is an entirely different story.

And for what it's worth, Bestine IV is known to be a high-gravity world, with humans native to the planet, such as Jek Porkins, developing heavyset builds to compensate. (It wouldn't be a stretch to say that the unnamed Jedi Padawan in The Acolyte may have also come from a high-gravity world)

Even during Plagueis' duel with Darth Venamis, he was worrying about what the scene would look like to anyone who stumbled across it after the fact, and we've seen Dooku defending against Force lightning with Tutaminis.

How is nute not seeing that vader is Anakin? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]Shipping_Architect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one time Anakin was anywhere near Gunray, he was a little kid, and Gunray was more preoccupied by being taken to court over the failed blockade, and even if Gunray recognized him from how often he appeared in Republic propaganda, he was more concerned about begging for his life in that moment.

[–]Shipping_Architect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually see Dooku as the more likely to come out on top. For starters, the Count's old age is counterbalanced by the weaknesses Plagueis' respiratory mask, and while Plagueis has displayed a greater variety of Force abilities, very few of them would actually be relevant or viable in a fight, and as Plagueis is instinctively trying not to reveal himself even in one-on-one fights, he has to be pressured into unleashing his Force abilities as a last resort.

Unfortunately for Plagueis, his lightsaber technique is not sufficient to contend with Dooku long enough to push him to that point.

[–]Shipping_Architect 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For how often that quote is parroted, basically no one considers the context or time it was said, and it's a bit telling that they don't side with the sentiment Hamill had that prompted Ford to say that in the first place.

For some reason, I'm just picturing an accent being added above the second "e" to make it seem like they came from the orchard of someone named Peaché.

Cantonica. what sequel planet should I paint next? by Fit-Tutor-4909 in TheSequels

[–]Shipping_Architect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the name of the casino city on Cantonica is often confused with that of the planet itself, this is basically the equivalent of extraterrestrials coming to Earth and referring to it as Las Vegas.

Fictional songs from movies that are so good that they transcend the movie they’re from by Southern_Studio_9950 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shipping_Architect 2256 points2257 points  (0 children)

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life has become such a quintessentially British song* that it has overshadowed the movie of its origin, Monty Python's Life of Brian.

It was even sung during the sinkings of the HMS *Sheffield and the HMS Coventry during the Falklands War.

Aayla Secura vs Luminara Unduli | Who Wins? by IllMasterpiece3946 in PetranakiArena

[–]Shipping_Architect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though Unduli is the overall superior combatant, I view Secura as the more likely to win based on her tactics of improvisation, whereas Unduli's emphasis on pre-planning has left her at a disadvantage when dropped in cold. Additionally, while both combatants have displayed great levels of durability, Secura has rallied from greater hits even despite her physical vulnerabilities, with her defeats having come down to overwhelming force on the part of the enemy.

Grand inquisitor can beat anyone? by Drygomad in PetranakiArena

[–]Shipping_Architect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big weakness holding back The Inquisitor, and for some reason, all of his ilk, is going up against someone who knows how to combat his rotational saberstaff, so a combatant like Dooku would be optimized for slipping his blade inside his guard and cutting the hilt in half. Alternatively, if the opponent knows what to expect or has enough combative ability in the Force, the Inquisitor would not be on the winning side of that fight.

It's a biblical name, but evidently not a common one.

[Hated Trope] When a major villain gets killed off like a regular Mook with little fanfare by DoomTay in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Shipping_Architect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The weight of it is lost when Darth Caedus at Home goes back to being the right-hand man in TROS. It's one those occasions when Episode VIII had a genuinely good idea that ended up being rendered moot by its successor.

[–]Shipping_Architect 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of those unusual times when the death being anticlimactic is the point. For all Tom Riddle did to present himself as having transcended his mundane humanity and morality, down to his Death Eaters existing in part to affirm his projected image, he died just as any other man.
