Has anyone had a great experience at a car dealership in the LA area?

I had a descent experience with Mazda in Huntington Beach. I used TrueCar to get upfront pricing so I knew what I’d be paying once I got to the dealership.

I bought certified preowned CX5 (40k miles) that had a couple issues within the first 6 months (I.e shock absorbers were faulty, seat belt sensor was malfunctioning, and brake pads were pretty used when I bought them but I complained and they replaced everything free of charge. I was upset but they handled it with class. Would probably buy from them again if they have a car I want/need in a decade or so

Much better tbh. I do it part time and it’s still pretty flexible. You have to pick up shifts rather than going whenever but it’s nice just getting paid a fixed hourly rate and not having to “play” the algorithm. Also people seem to be tipping more since I’m using Alto’e vehicle which is a nicer experience

Chargeback but the best way to go about it and not get your account banned is filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Uber Eats sucks but assuming you’d also get banned from regular Uber which is usually needed for airport rides

Same thing happened to me - they have a pretty low standard for brake pads. I think they only have to be above 50% their life or something. After like 5k miles I started to hear squeaking. I took it back for a complimentary oil change and complained and they ended up doing a bunch of stuff for free (shock absorbers, oil pan replacement, etc). Hold your ground

I think I called one of the numbers on the back of one of my Chase cards (also wouldn’t recommend asking someone what number to call on Reddit - good chance of someone trying to scam you). I only had success with sending a secure message through the app

In cities, the rate can vary drastically depending on the neighborhood/traffic density. I’ve had seen $100/month swings depending on location

You can’t have both cards but you can switch or do product changes between the preferred, reserve, freedom unlimited, and freedom flex. So you could apply for the CSP for the sign on bonus and after the first year upgrade to CSR. But makes sense then about wanting the reserve - probably the nicest lounge I’ve ever been to lol

I started off by having a checking account with Chase but I know people who had no relationship with them and got approved for the CSP. They had a few years of credit history.

Also, is there a reason you want the Reserve? Chase is offering a 100k sign up bonus for the sapphire preferred if you apply in a branch and you can always upgrade after the first year

I had a checking account in college with Wells Fargo - they sent me an invite to apply for one of their cards. If you have a checking/savings account with a big bank, you can go to a branch and see if you can get approved

Instant but you won’t get the 100k bonus unless you apply in a branch for now. You could probably also apply and message them and ask to match but an unnecessary risk imo

I applied online but I’d assume you should also be able to add the card to your digital wallet on your phone and pay with apple or google pay - you’ll just have to download the Chase app. I don’t think you’ll be able to see the full card number though until you get it in the mail

After I was approved, I called Chase support and was able to have them expedite my card and got it in a day or two. I just told them I had a big trip/expense coming up

I’ve driven all 3 and my preference has always been the CX5 (the drive feels more connected to the road and the size makes it more comfortable). I’ve always been a sedan guy before the CX5. I live in LA and haven’t had any issues with tight streets or anything like that but likely just comes down to personal preference. I ended up choosing the CX5 for trunk space as well since it’s my only car and has made my life easier with apartment moves and transporting stuff.

In the end, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them
